Amazing synth, sound and concept! But every time i open a project on which i am using the device the sound is altered, why does this happen? Also tried to save the patch as a preset .adv file in Ableton but this also happens. I cannot for the life of me get the same sound again. This makes it difficult to use. Is this a bug or am i doing something wrong? I am using Ableton 12. I only ask because its such a great synth and i would like to use it more!

Metasynth (mac) or Virtual Ans 3 are thousand better!!! Everything from the set & concept have no meaning sonically and symbolically and are pretty wrong on interpretation. Should have study the ANS by Evgeny Murzin in the late 1950s (for Scriabin) or The UPIC (Unité Polyagogique Informatique du CEMAMu) system was invented by Iannis Xenakis. 😉

Hey! amazing device, but the x/y panel its too big for my screen! :c can't access the parameters, How do i change the size of the screen?
@eatfrenzy
@eatfrenzy 3 ай бұрын
i didn’t see that being a problem, what size is your screen? you can use the little one by pressing the up/down arrow button on the top right of the interface. it doesn’t have the gesture speed controls though, so i might need to look into some kind of fix for this in an update…

Maybe AI could be trained to generate beautiful images (or long images which you can scroll across like a piece of sheet music) that make beautiful sounds or evolving music. What would the image of a symphony look like (is there another way to visualize it in 2d/3d besides a spectrogram?) You got my mind going Hh

What about a he reverse…. I guess Ableton’s Wavetable in polar mode already does this, but allow input if wavetables to generate an image. Ah, the unique thing would be how your synth traverses them with your changing circle shapes instead of a linear line/polar circle. Or even let us draw a start and end shape that morphs from one to the other.

Very creative, as always! Here’s something this line that I’ve wondered about and maybe you could do it: Have you ever looked at the horizon/skyline and thought, you know, that looks just like a waveform, I wonder what it would sound like? Allow photo input (or even moving video?) and somehow trace out the jagged line touching the sky. Allow movable start and end points for wave exploration, with variable grain-like envelope to reduce clicking. (Maybe make it a granular synth?). What does your backyard sound like? What do the pyramids sound like? Or the Tokyo skyline?

Cool! This is a really neat implementation of WTS 🙂 Curious if you're taking the wavetable approach of storing the output waveform in a buffer to read at different rates, of if you're instead calculating the trajectory on the fly?
@eatfrenzy
@eatfrenzy 4 ай бұрын
thanks! it’s all calculated on the fly. with 6 different path modes and 4 shape controls per mode (not to mention 4 boundary responses and user submitted waves) there are so many possible ways to read from the buffer that i don’t think it would be feasible to calculate it all up front. it’s computationally expensive because the calculations are per sample, but the range of possible output waveforms is much greater.
@samcarswell9890
@samcarswell9890 4 ай бұрын
Nice! Yeah the diversity of possible approaches to wave terrain makes figuring out these sorts of implementation details an interesting decision process! Re: images as terrains - how did you approach the fact that most images are 8bit? I was playing around with this a few years back and found that to be a limiting factor 😅 Do you do any smoothing etc? Also wondering if you came across Stuart James' thesis on wave terrain? Lots of cool ideas in there 🙂

Yeah I’m also having some weird issue, the map is always black no matter which of the 30 maps I select. Loading a custom image does something, but is also black… Also wondering how you make the max for live plug-in to show as a floating window as seen in this video… I also cannot see the modulating “selector” or graphic that generates the waveform…
