The 58 Buick borrowed nothing from the 1951 Buick show car XP300.

My father bought this exact color cobra brand new, I was brought home from the hospital in it after I was born, a little old lady lost control in the rain and totaled it when it was parked in front of his mothers house, he told me the only races he lost were to big block corvettes.

I believe these were 396 with 375 horses. I don't remember a 427 in these. If it had the black leather interior with a convertible.... Would be my #1 favorite car in the world. I would sell any car for one of those. Way out of my price range these days. Sure is pretty

I was 11 years old when these came out. This was the first real car I ever remember thinking about and wanting. I never did get one but would still like to go for a ride someday. My folks had a 1956 Pontiac station wagon and later bought a 1963 four-door Catalina. My dad was always a Pontiac man. When General Motors dropped the Pontiac line I felt a great loss and still do.

I grew up in 1963 Galaxies. Dad had three all together. A beige fordoor, then a red fordoor, then one day he brought home a black on black Galaxie 500 ragtop with a 427 4 speed. The 427 was broken so he dropped he a 352 with an automatic and that was our family car. Later he got a 1969 XL, candy apple red with a 390 automatic. I took my road test in my sister’s 1969 Galaxie ragtop.

The 1964 GTO kicked off the Muscle Car era. The Mustang and Barracuda were not initially Muscle Cars. The Buick Nailhead was a 264, 322, 364, 401, and 425 versions. The 215 aluminum engine was not a nailhead. The Chrysler HEMI lasted through 1958 in it's first version.

Rovers never used nailhead Buick engines Rover purchased the patterns for the 215 cu.in. aluminum Buick from GM.

Little did I know that around 50 years later my low end Tesla Model 3 would be faster zero to 60 and in the quarter mile. Take no offense, I loved the American muscle cars back then.
