Who lives on that island? It looks like I see some homes!? It's so beautiful! What is the name of this island? Is it Edgemont & passage keys? (I'll have to do some research about these little paradise Islands! Do or did the ppl live there full time or was it a vacation home? (It wld be my dream to live on an island truly!) They must have had to go by boat or helicopter as I do not see a bridge!! Can you imagine getting all the building materials over there to build w out bridges and trucks/ cats, bulldozers etc!!? I love all your videos and subscribe to your channel! I'm thankful you are ok! My elderly parents live in port Charlotte, my 19 yr old grandson lives in Clearwater Tampa area and my brother and sister-in-law live in Daytona beach! I am truly blessed they are all safe! My prayers are for those who had family members die and are missing from both storms and for all those w property destruction too. I am so sorry, it hurts my heart! Blessings from Dayton Ohio!

@@DroneCaptain well my comment was a little blunt but I do realize it. I know the entire area I lived there for decades. All that water is supposed to be there, they built in the Gulf of Mexico and not on dry land. I am 20 miles from the Gulf and my place got no water. If you want to build a house in the Gulf, that's your choice.
@TheRubiconRacer
@TheRubiconRacer 23 күн бұрын
They didnt build in the gulf of Mexico. That land is dry during normal conditions. If the gulf was supposed to be there it would stay there. Hasnt come up like that in at least 50 years. Stop spouting nonsense. I agree that its overpopulated.
@theone4929
@theone4929 23 күн бұрын
@@TheRubiconRacer the water being there is not an anomaly it is normal. The water will recede and will come back again and again, you may consider that nonsense but it is factual reality, just as there are two genders not infinite genders. The high water line defines the parameters of the Gulf and those buildings are within the high water line, are they not. You can disagree with me as to the boundaries of the Gulf, but the gulf will define its own boundaries as it did. They will clean up and rebuild and this will happen again, now that to me is the definition of nonsense.
@TheRubiconRacer
@TheRubiconRacer 23 күн бұрын
@@theone4929 I agree with the genders part but the normal gulf level is where its been for the last forever. That is where its supposed to be. IF it weren't it would be at a constant state over the barrier islands. Of course the gulf will decide where it goes but for the last however long we have been keeping records and living here the islands have been dry unless there is a anomaly such as a storm that drives water over them which believe it or not doesnt happen to often. At least as far as surge is concerned.
@theone4929
@theone4929 23 күн бұрын
@@TheRubiconRacer thanks for your response, the way I see it: the water level of the gulf varies and my concern is the upper limit of the gulfs water level, when I'm fishing the mangroves I worry about its lower limits, my position is to assess the upper possible limits, which can easily be done to include surges, and only build permanent structures perhaps an additional half mile further inland to account for variance. If that were done loss of property and life would be avoided. Our engineering capabilities are phenomenal so let's utilize them. Now that doesn't come cheap and may not be available to everyone because of cost. And as you addressed correctly, it's too overpopulated.
@run_N_DoubleB_gun_N
@run_N_DoubleB_gun_N 23 күн бұрын
The upper limit is called a flood zone of the Gulf of Mexico. Lido Key is literally in the Gulf of Mexico. The Gulf will eventually reclaim it. If it wasn't for beach replenishment, there wouldn't be a beach. St. Armonds Circke is actually man made.

Wouldn’t be surprised to see a mass exodus out of Florida over the next few years. Who wants to deal with this every year or so as insurance companies are pulling out and prices double or triple every year. Property taxes and HOA fees are insane, some of the worst in the country. It’s extremely overcrowded now because of all the Northerners who flooded the State. Florida has changed and gone downhill completely over the last few years, and I say this as 30 year resident.
