I do not understand why you go via Tengboche both going up and down when there is a much more impressive high trail on the opposite side of the valley? The Mong La - Phortse - Pangpoche High Scenic Trail offers vastly better better views high across the valley, lots of wildlife and practically no other trekkers. Tengboche can be visited on the way down.

@@adventurewhitehimalayatrek But on the way up going Namche - Phortse - Dingpoche takes the same 2 days as Namche - Tengboche - Dingpoche, so what "not much time" you are talking about?

@@adventurewhitehimalayatrek I have been there in 1985, 1998, 2000, 2009 and 2018. Several agencies have started using the Phortse route on the way up and clients love it. Looks like Nepalese agencies and guides do not even know about it. I can see no reason to go via Tengboche twice. Views are spectacular and trail adventurous. Of course people like the standard route when nobody is even telling them there is a better one available. Pure laziness from guides and lack of inventiveness.
