Thx! The boat is a dream. Very well kept by the prev owners. This one has steel plates in the hull instead of a frame. But she is superstiff and in a very good shape :-) I can only recommend X-Yachts. Especially from that time.

The centerboard/foil must have full length in trunk when in down position otherwise building a strong enough trunk/blade combo becomes a challenge. The lateral loads of long board are primarily supported at hull skin and deck portions of trunk. In order to be able to have enough room to raise the board, forward of the mast avoids negative interactions with the boom.

+nuggsrc Usually those boats have vertical fins right behind the mast. This on is slopes to avoid to strong windward helm when the center hull is climbing. The more the fin comes out of the water, the more does the lateral center go aft. It works quite well! This is also scale, the real MOD70 has the fin at the same position with the same slope.

I thought the same but it is pretty necessary in order to create a balance to the rudder. I actually increased the area cause the boat had leeway in "two-hull"-sailing mode.
