Mate, what a vid. cracking session! Had my first session last week. managed a 23 common in the same swim. a few lads have said not to fill it in with loads of loose feed? They seem quite put off by that, any particular colours and flavours That you recommend at all? ta bud, Ollie

Hey mate - few questions, are the most of the swims on old bury hill platform style? And it’s silt bottom right? Thanks mate, Ollie

Hi Ollie, thanks for your message. Yes I can confirm that all of the swims have platforms so stage stands or a pod are recommended. Saying that you can fish your rods on bank sticks just off the sides of the platforms, especially this time of year when the vegetation is down. The lake bed is very silty so heli style lead set ups are recommended to allow for the lead to plug without distorting the rug presentation. 👍

Any tips for the old lake bud ?
@banktrampproductions71423 жыл бұрын
Hi Charlie, the old lake can be very prolific in terms of bites. My advice to avoid the bream is to use big baits, critically balanced (18/20mm) on a longish hair. This will prevent the bream from hooking themselves. Use rigs with a stiff or semi stiff boom section so they can reset after being sucked and blown. Also I would recommend a heli rig lead presentation with the top bead set to allow for a silty soft bottom. Oh yer and avoid fish meals and pellets and they are like a bream magnet! Check out our old lake video if you haven’t seen it yet and do keep me informed as to how you get on. Tight lines pal!!

Nice video and fish. A couple look like they got parrot mouths? I guess they once lived in the main lake. Could you tell me what rig set up works there please ? Do the margins work at night, I'm not the best at long casting? I'm only 10 mins up the road and thinking of joining. I need to get away from the idiots on the banks and I think that might be the place. Cheers

Thank you for the kind comment. Glad you enjoyed the video. To answer your questions I can confirm the margins can be very productive. I tend to alway fish up my left and right margin and then one mid water with very slack line as I’ve found the fish to be very line shy. Having three tight lines out to the island I think cuts you off. With reference to rigs, I favour a semi stiff bomb section so that the rig can reset itself if I get an aborted take. Hook baits I tend to keep them small, 10/14mm and I favour a wafter hookbait with a small pva stick. Temple is a Great Lake, very peaceful and with a booking system in place you are guaranteed a swim. Also none of the swims over look one another and they all have their own section of water. Do keep in touch and let me know how you get on, it’s not easy but the rewards definitely out way the effort. Best of luck, Mark
