We have used it on rivers and on the springs in Florida. Nothing near white water but some great river paddling. Creeks would be fine, too as long as it’s deep enough to not scrape the rudder. We found out the hard way that it’s very hard to paddle without a rudder. 😢

Would you say this could handle a lake with a lot of traffic? Or would the waves be too much?
@DestinedToExploreАй бұрын
This kayak is super stable. It has a flat bottom and it would take a lot to tip it. We have not been in super busy lakes with lots of water craft but we’ve been in water that’s churned up by wind. No problems.
@theyoungfamily14Ай бұрын
Glad you found something you like and are happy with...but sad you just tossed the other set out, so many families have nothing....even RV "uncomfortable" furniture would be better than nothing.
@DestinedToExploreАй бұрын
Totally agree, that's why we listed the recliners on Facebook Marketplace for free and had someone pick them up within an hour. The "toss out" part was mostly for dramatic effect. I probably should have included that info in the video.

We lived with them for 3 years and they just kept getting crappier. We love the new recliners.

I’m not a fan of the recliners and in our Parafigm either. I’ve been wanting to change it out for months now.

We do recommend Bradd & Hall furniture. Kind of spendy, but worth it.

Notes about building this feeder. A tall pole and baffle are a more effective choice for keeping squirls off a feeder. Unfortunately for us, anywhere that I could put a feeder with a baffle 6’ up and clear for 10 around would be difficult to see from our house. To build the feeder, I picked up a small electric fence energizer and electric fence wire from a local Farm store. Note the fence energizer works by touching the energized wire and ground. On my feeder I ran a second wire on the feeder connected to a grounded rod to complete the circuit. You need to run two wires to and around the feeder. One wire will come from the electric fence energizer. The other will act as a ground wire. The energized wire and ground need to stay far enough apart that a bird will not touch both wires, but close enough that a squirrel will contact both. On my feeder I started with one side of the feed tray being energized and the other is grounded. I thought that after one shock a squirl would never come back. But squirls are very smart and determined. They would sit and study the feeder and try again knowing what not to do again. And some would figure out just where to sit and step to get past the wires and eat from the feeder. Then I would make changes to wire layout to make it harder to bypass. I’m not sure I was ever completely successful keeping the squirls off but making sure the birds would not be shocked. I would not mind feeding the squirrels because they are somewhat fun to watch. It’s also not the cost of the feed, it is the fact that they would empty the entire contents of the feeder on to the ground in a day to get to the few nuts or seeds that they wanted wasting 90% of the food and making a huge mess.

Squirrels are very clever and relentless...I have gotten rid of many black gray and red Squirrels..along with 2 other neighbors....I live in a subdivision..one neighbor is a big animal lover of anything and puts out 50lbs of cracked corn In Her yard on our fence line.........? I have trapped Squirrels chipmunks ...rats larger then my foot..rabbits ....and a very larger raccoon...and possums ..she finally moved her corn to another area in her yard...but everything comes through my yard to get the food..causing havoc...I love to see the birds..I have hummingbird feeders..but I'm really worried about all the other not wanted rodents coming around....this electric bird feeder sound promising
@carenallen5841Ай бұрын
So how do the birds use without getting shocked..I absolutely hate squirrels and chipmunks..they are invasive rodents that destroy my yard..fed up with them..

Do you miss the little shade around the monitor? I have found with our current, so to be replaced, cameras system the display glares off the windshield when driving at night and makes things harder to see.

@@DestinedToExplore Thanks - If you were going to the store today to pick out a system you would pick up the Touch vs the older monitor?
@DestinedToExploreАй бұрын
@@mikesly5 That is a great question, everyone's budget is different. The touch version is a big improvement, but there is nothing wrong with the original version and once its set up, the screen interface is not a huge draw back. I think i would go with the new touch screen but as i mention in the video, my favorite part is having side cameras. If its a choice of side cameras or the new screen i would go with old screen and side cameras. I suspect the old screen won't be a choice for much longer as i no longer see it one the halo view website.

That bike is a step through frame. A frame adjustable telescopic bicycle cross bar would've of prevented you from having to do any cutting on your rack. I've seen these cross bars as cheap as $12 on ebay. The bar hooks onto the neck of the handlebar to the seat post. The bar gives you a platform for the clamp to clamp onto. I'm surprised Hollywood Racks didn't tell you this because they sell their own version of these. Instead of pitching a $120 addon accessory. I can say that the rack is built well and for the 2 years I've own it, it's transported both my ebikes with no problems!
@DestinedToExplore2 ай бұрын
Thanks for your comment! I know about the adjustable cross bars your mention, but it would not have changed the center line of the bike and allowed the clamp to fit on the bike. The shorter clamp now fits on the step through bar. We like how sturdy the rack is and it works well, but some different design choice would have made it better.
@chucklesb502 ай бұрын
A 5mm allen wrench and turn the bars. simple.
@DestinedToExplore2 ай бұрын
Thanks for your comment. We did turn the bars the for a while. Then we fixed the rack so we would not need to adjust the bars every time we loaded or unloaded the bikes. In my opinion, the bars should not need to be adjusted to load bikes.

Do you have any footage of you (lady) getting in and out of this kayak? My problem is stability - difficult to use my quads to push weight up so I need to swing my legs over and yet remain stable? Thanks!!
@DestinedToExplore2 ай бұрын
Marquita here: I have a similar issue. Before this kayak we used a canoe and it was hard to get up from a crouch. I don’t have video of me getting in/out of this kayak but I can describe: getting in: we put the kayak parallel to the shore and I stand on the water side, butt toward the kayak and just sit down and swing my legs in. Getting out: just reverse. I always get out on the water side because it’s sloping down vs. shore side which slopes up. The sides of the kayak are perfect for this method because they are low and flat (easy to swing legs in and out). I love it! So easy and Tom doesn’t worry about me falling into rocks.
@DestinedToExplore2 ай бұрын
One more thing: getting out-Tom usually holds down the side of the kayak opposite of where I’m getting out. But it’s pretty stable.

Great video. We just ordered same rack. Our fifth wheel has a fiberglass cap on the back. I’m a little concerned if we will have enough room also. Our rig is 43 feet long so I’m not wanting to extend the hitch length anymore. I may just get my grinder ready. lol. I think I can speak for the majority of the RV community and say THANKS for making these videos. Safe travels 👍👍
