Awww very cute. Are these the ones the boys will show at fair this summer?
@CatastrophicFarms14 күн бұрын
No, they were born too early. Show goats have to be born in the year they are being shown. Unless you are showing older milking nannies, and these are too young for that. They won't be mommas by July.

cute goats ,, dalcone farms had a bore goat last year that had 6 babies , one died the mother raised and feed the surviving 5 , , so your goat should be okayraising 4 babies , dalscone is a farm in Scotland , they are on youtube also , good luck and God Bless
@CatastrophicFarmsАй бұрын
Thank you, I'll have to check out Dalscone. As it it went, a few weeks after this was filmed I did have to pull 2 of them off of momma. Floppy did the best she could but they drank her dry and it got to the point where she was kicking them away. I think she knew she was dry. So the decision was made to pull two away and she was able to support the other two. Thank you for watching!

James Brasileiro Type his name in youtube and check the 3rd video specifically. You should be able to pick up something. I have some experience in horticulture so what I can say, is you definitely will want a hygrometer so you can know your numbers for humidity and temperature for your garage. Being in a garage, i imagine your humidity is far too low and you need more air circulation. Low humidity and no air flow is definitely going to crisp out the leaves like that. I’d also like to point out that in James Brasileiros video, i can see an advantage to cutting the leaves while theyre still green and hanging them individually vs. how you did it, hang the whole plant. As you check the drying leaves, if they did get too dry too fast, this is where you can pack them up in a damp towel and place them in a pot being heated slightly off a stovetop, and begin your process of rehhydrating your leaf…the downside, like you said, definitely more labor intensive
@CatastrophicFarmsАй бұрын
Thanks for the info. I appreciate the suggestion, I'll check him out. We usually run pretty high humidity in Iowa in August, but this year was exceptionally dry. Indeed it probably did not have enough airflow though.

Thanks for the video. Your video reminded me to give my dog his meds for something very similar to what your goat has. Anyways it’s nice to see the good and the bad of operating a farm. You have taught me that I do not want livestock, even if there’s a fire.

Sorry TJ, it’s always hard, but you have learned with this experience and will recognize the symptoms for the next time it happens, it will happen, but you will be more prepared. Farming is tough, rarely do your plans truly go the way you want them to, but you learn, adjust and improve. Kathy

@CatastrophicFarms2 ай бұрын
Yes that could be done also. I noticed that in the last few days it's been much more humid here and the leaves have softened up a bit. So maybe I didn't do anything wrong and late summer was just too dry.

Thank you, I appreciate it. I had a really good 460 video this past summer but something went wrong trying to transfer the files from my GoPro and I lost half of it. Otherwise it has been running pretty good lately so I haven't filmed much of it. I still have to put tire chains on it for the winter, I put one out last year on doing that.
