The original version on Wally Fowler's Oak Ridge Quartet plays the Grand Ole Opry 78 rpm is much better. I found the whole set of four 78s in an antique mall for $7. I didn't know they were the precursors of the Oak Ridge Boys. 😊 The album was released in 1948.

Open up your heart and let the sunshine in My mother told me something that everyone should know It's all about the devil and I learned to hate him so She said he causes trouble when you let him in the room He will never ever leave you if your heart is filled with gloom So let the sunshine in face it with a grin smilers never lose and frowners never win So let the sunshine in face it with a grin open up your heart and let the sunshine in [ guitar ] When you are unhappy the devil wears a grin But oh! he starts to running when the light comes pouring in I know he'll be unhappy 'cos I'll never wear a frown Maybe if we keep on smiling he'll get tired of hanging round So let the sunshine in... [ steel ] If I forget to say my prayers the devil jumps with glee But oh! he feels so awful when he sees me on my knee So if you're full of trouble and you never seem to win Just open up your heart and let the sunshine in So let the sunshine in...

Big Chief's lyrics: You gotta walk a little talk a little, with my savior. Give a little Live a little, in his favor. Tell the world about the masters wondrous love and power, his, saving power. When the race on earth is run, the Vic'try down here has been won When the crown of life to is given And I'm, on my way, to heaven.

"Autopsy of Jane Doe" aside, this song on its own just reeks of toxic positivity and religious housewife bullcrap.
