His performance in the Russian roulette scene is better than a lot of great actor's careers. He left earth with that scene. I have never feared for the safety of fictional characters before or since. One of the greatest scenes in the history of cinema and De Niro was truly at the heart of it. Astonishing performance.

I've lost so much respect for this once great actor that I simply don't care anymore.

I’m glad they put the Irishman in there. It gets slated but De Niro’s performance is unreal. People say Pesci was great, which he is but De Niro is brilliant. He’ll get rewarded for this film in years to come.

It's been a while since I've seen Raging Bull and The Deer Hunter. But I saw Taxi Driver again a few months ago and remembered how good DeNiro's performance was in it.
