I’m hoping one day you could do a video on one of the weird Al polkas, as I think it would be interesting to learn how that Zany, energetic, comedy work is done, most optimally I think either “Polkas on 45” or “Polkarama”

In most of Europe we call them simply button accordions. When we talk about cromatic accordions we refer to that the tone is the same for both bellow directions. Versus the diatonic accordion, where the tone shifts when bellow directions changes.. Button accordions are very common in Europe.

Happy, I found your channel..... You are showing how capable the accordion actually is.

Nicely done, Ronen! One of my favorite progressions. For those who are having trouble with the I to vi, then vi to IV (left hand), here's a little "hack" that works for nearly all of these tunes. Play the 1 chord, then hop up to the 6 minor. That's skip two rows, right? Now, the big jump is three rows down to the 4 chord. Instead, simply slide down one and play the 2 minor chord. The progression then becomes I - vi - ii - V(7), and the only jump is between the I and the vi. Most folks can't tell the difference in sound; there's a music theory reason for that, which maybe you can explain in a later episode. Cheers!

Great idea. That minor ii is so similar sounding
@mitchellwhite59286 күн бұрын
@@moshezuchter It's the ii minor that made me fall in love with this progression, and indeed any order where you use the IV (and vice versa). Combined with an occasional use of the ii minor 7th, or the IV Major 7th (not the dominant) that can lead to rich interpretations on the right hand as well....

Ronen, are you actually playing the minor chord for the 6 on the left hand. I'm still having issues finding it in time. Since I'm playing the proper minor chord with my right hand, can I substitute the counter bass button for the chord on my left hand which I can hit more accurately?
@moshezuchter8 күн бұрын
Sure, Quito. You can hit the six root note however you'd like. But yes, I am playing the "proper" minor sixth... It gets used so frequently, but it is a very large jump from the minor six to the four chord (eg Am to F).

That also works on reverse! I was looking for a way to "damp" the sound of my left hand, and thanks to this video I remembered that, if i played the bass notes on legato you can get that "relaxing and dreamy" feeling that i couldn't get with my staccato playing

Great video! I gave up trying to learn the accordion because I mostly needed an instrument to accompany my singing. I couldn’t find any tutorials on how to use both hand to create accompaniments based on chords. I ended up finding great material for piano but nothing for accordion. A shame because pianos are not portable like the accordion. Everything I found involves playing melody with the right hand and accompaniment with the left, which is a no no for singers. Is there a method? Thank you for spreading love for such amazing instrument.
@moshezuchter10 күн бұрын
Yes for sure. Lots of techniques for accompanying voice, whether your own or someone else's. I have a whole unit on it: accordionlove.com/course/how-to-sing-along-to-your-accordion/
