It's supposed to be batch firing... but You'll see that sometimes both sides are firing at once, and I believe it's missing some sequences

What windshield
@pancudowny2 ай бұрын
Your distributor design looks similar to that of Chrysler's or Ford's, which leads me to believe that the problem might simply be the gap between the reluctor wheel and the pickup. If it's adjustable, look-up the factory spec, and use a set of brass feeler gauges to set it. But before you do, disconnect the leads and remove the pickup, to check the internal resistance of it. If it's out of or near the edge of specs, replace it with one that falls within them and proceed to set the gap. Btw: Is the ignition module separate from the engine's computer management? If so, try replacing it with a known functional one and see what happens.
@LOGGATO2 ай бұрын
It's got a new ignition module. The car runs, just loses spark past 3000 RPM. I'll try the resistance trick, but I already have plans on replacing the pickup coil with a known good one.

Nice pull! Amazing how long these old Mopars can sit.. get found and run again! The blocks don't lock up in a couple yrs, like Brand X cars. Btw, if you still have this car, I do have a '66 Newport parts car. Pretty sure the windshield is fine. The typical clear glass with the blue tinted upper area. p.s. In the rain, a C bod Mope will ofc spin the right tire on takeoff.. let it spin on the primaries and right when it hooks & hits 2nd, floor it. It'll grab 1st & the leaf springs will take that torque and plant the tires and she'll hook & book! I used to do it, often..it never failed. Surprised a lot of ppl..them in a 4x4 or awd veh and they'd be pulling away a bit bc off the line traction, then id do my thang and zoom..smoke 'em..the 440 w/a Thermo-Quad roaring as i passed them, ahahaha.

You sir are a driver I can tell by the way you explained everything. I’m 34 and my dad and I built a couple of chevelles and Camaros over the years and everything you mentioned just now, I’ve heard verbatim come from my dad. He’s not a big mopar guy at all, but I am, I love looking for power in places or things, other people have cast aside. I have an 06 300C that I just adore, power for days and the luxury and comfort ability of a Cadillac. I honestly would drive this one until the wheels fall off and I decide to get a newer one.

225 slant six was a great motor, couldn't kill it as long as you put a quart of oil in with every fill-up after 60/70 thousand miles.
