Get a small zip lock baggie. Take a big spoonful of Vaseline and put it in the bag. Use the bag to wipe the Vaseline off the spoon. Add cotton balls. Seal the bag. Massage the bag until all balls are coated evenly. You're welcome.

It's interesting that KZbin videos on "how to build winter fires" directly contradict each other: "Don't build on snow" vs "OK to Build on Snow." What's a noob to think?
@exploringwithmatthew1629 Жыл бұрын
If you have the option to, don't build on snow because the snow will melt and turn to water thus killing your fire. If you have to burn on snow, try building a firebed made up of sticks and stones, sort of the same way you'd make a raft

Old Vicks Vapor Rub that has lost its odor through age works really good too. Plus the container is great to keep the fire starters in.

Can you melt the Vaseline and just soak all the cotton balls in it?
@shivamkaushik75893 жыл бұрын
dip cotton balls in clarified butter in case vaseline isn't available and you have butter, the cotton acts like the candle wick, and the clarified butter acts as the fuel, works well too, we use that in India for prayer ceremony but I can see it being used as a fire starter as well,

I just got back from a hiking trip from the top a a mountain on the appalachian trail, and when we got up there I accidentally stepped into a freezing stream with non-waterproof boots (first mistake). I also only had 1 pair of wool socks which were the ones I was wearing (second mistake), however I did have a pair of regular socks. Long story short, it took me and my friends an hour to get a fire going, and in that time, it went from a frozen foot to my whole body shaking and going through some of the worst pain I ever felt. It was 15 degrees out, so to everyone who likes the cold and hiking, make sure you bring waterproof boots as well as several pairs of wool socks.

@baconjunior10003 жыл бұрын
@@shellysadventures2875 yeah we stayed overnight and left in the afternoon the next morning. After we got the fire started and I thawed out my socks and boots, it turned out to be one of the best camping trip I ever had
@baconjunior10003 жыл бұрын
@@shellysadventures2875 I'm also new to hiking and camping in the actual wilderness, not campgrounds and stuff like that, so I was pretty inexperienced especially with the cold

@@baconjunior1000 that's so awesome, I am glad in the end it worked out. Lots of lessons learned! I was curious if you planned or not because I was pleased that at the very minimum you were able to make a fire.

Great video. I also found a way to melt candle wax and coat the cotton bud in the wax. It can last over 10 minutes with 1 waxed cotton ball.

Great video content! Excuse me for butting in, I would appreciate your initial thoughts. Have you heard about - Proutklarton Incredible Match Plan (do a google search)? It is a great exclusive product for getting an understanding of how to survive in a disaster and make your own survival food without the headache. Ive heard some awesome things about it and my good mate called Gray after many years got cool success with it.

I would also like to add before lighting a fire know how you are going to put it out . a near by water source is good, way to often i come across fire sites in the woods that have been left to burn right down and often on material that can smoulder for many many days . soak it stir it and soak it again . on the point of butane lighters keep them on an internal pocket in cold weather minus 5 and below they work much better. all in all a good video nicely done.
