Useful mod thanks, but why on earth use a power tool anywhere near those components when a hand tool does just the job with no risk of harm to the finish of components? I winced a few times at the wizzing noise....a simple hand held screw driver will do the job 8 days a week. Get to know your tools. Power tools are far to fierce for the majority of jobs, great for drilling holes in walls but....

I use both and depending on what I'm working on, I'll use hand tools. But different strokes for different folks I suppose. I will say that I've done plenty of more to the bike and have used power tools on all of it. Still no damage from the tools because I know the capability of the tools.

@weekendmotorcycleguy3229 Жыл бұрын
Haha. Triumph. Honestly likely some government regulation about sizing and spacing that OEMs are required to meet I'd suspect. But yeah, this is why I changed them out.
@AdvGuru2 жыл бұрын
you can save the cost for the kit and use 2 small peices of duct tape to remove the play from the throttle tube cleats
@weekendmotorcycleguy32292 жыл бұрын
Yeah, the function of these are very basic. I could have drawn up the spaces and 3d printed them out as well. But for the time invested vs cost, I decided to just purchase these. As far as using other items to take up the space, yep, tape would work as well.
@AdvGuru2 жыл бұрын
yeah, it's such an easy fix, and improvement of ride quality, that's its sort of embarrassing that triumph doesn't fix the slop in the throttle tube

@weekendmotorcycleguy32292 жыл бұрын
Hi Bob. The holes were not threaded. I did not have to do any modification to the mounts for them to work.
@blubase063 жыл бұрын
They're not DOT compliant cause the US requires turn signals to at least be a certain size. Same reason some sequential turn signals on Audis require the brake light to flash with the turn signal. The initial light has too small of a foot print to be DOT approved.
@weekendmotorcycleguy32293 жыл бұрын
Hence why at 2 minutes in I say they are not DOT compliant and that it's up to you to make the determination to install then or not. I will say that I've been around plenty of cops and not one has said a lick about them not being compliant. I also live in the states. I know some are more strict than others.

I did this mod on my Thruxton. It eliminates the play but the throttle doesn't have the lag you need and makes it snatchy. So reversed it.

Yes, this will eliminates all slack. So, if you like a bit more give, then this is not what you want to do.

@@weekendmotorcycleguy3229 I have the same red clip fitted to my Ducati Panigale and they work just fine. The difference is it's dyno to 250 increment to deliver a smooth throttle response. On the Triumph Factory custom, I realised that it worked better without.

Don’t get to excited, they won’t work on all motorcycles, if you hav CAN BUS system they won’t work and if for some reason they do you will throw some check eng lights down the road
@weekendmotorcycleguy32294 жыл бұрын
You can get CAN bus adapters for the most part. Revzilla supplies an adapter for some of the Rizoma signals. Custom Dynamics also makes sets for HD and Indian. But I'm sure there will be some out there where it won't work. For later made triumphs that come equipped led signals already, they work without even requiring an equalizer. You just have to determine which flash mode you need during a key on while holding the information button.
@weekendmotorcycleguy32294 жыл бұрын
And now that I think about this a bit more, the adapters are still going to be resistor based. Can bus requires a set restinace across the network to properly communicate. The signals i doubt would be smart devices in which they actually send out a signal to a BCU. If that ever happens, that will be a sad day as a replacement would get pricey. Rather, the BCU would see a loss in load across the circuit, and then flag a fault, etc.. loading the circuit correctly to trick the BCU is what you would need. Im assuming that the trimmable parameter within the setup of the Triumph ecu allows for some variance depending on the mode selected.

A guy had an Indian ftr1200 mounted these lights and got them to work for 9 months then the computer went bad and they wouldn’t fix it under warranty, the more I’ve been reading about this I decided it’s not worth it I’ll just keep my stock lights
@weekendmotorcycleguy32294 жыл бұрын
@@jamespolucha6911 I would be suspect that the lights caused an ECU to go bad. They are just lights. The only way I could link that is if there was a short that fed into the ECU somehow from a mishap in wiring. Then when the turn signal was energized, feeding back into the ecu and frying it internally. The only way they would be able to determine that is by verifying the wiring or have the ecu sent to the supplier for analysis to understand the failure. I would definitely like to read the article where you found that. I've worked in the automotive industry my entire career as an engineer and haven't seen or heard anything like that. Won't say its possible and I always like to learn more :) Perhaps the motorcycle world does something goofy I'm not aware of.
@jamespolucha69114 жыл бұрын
On a CAN BUS system there is no hot and ground like on typical 12 volts it’s all fed threw a computer, I’ve been reading a lot about this BMW has had it for sometime and apparently the new Indians do also I think my model ha 3 computers and the salesman told me if I’m not riding the bike for a week or so to keep it on a battery tender so it won’t go dead or loose its language, kind of complicated

Can you wire them for running/turn signal function? Meaning they are on all the time steady, then will flash when turn signal is activated.
@weekendmotorcycleguy32294 жыл бұрын
As they are now, no. You would have to modify the wiring in order to achieve this. However, im fairly confident they have other products that achieve this.

Thanks for the video! I'm looking at these and the Rizoma Club turn signals, not sure which ones yet. In another video I read that one of the bikes in that video got some water in one or both, not sure, his Rizoma Club and was getting these Kellermans to replace them. I mounted saddlebags on our 2005 Dyna Wide Glide and I need to mount new turn signals all the way back in the last hole in the fender struts. You say that they make different length mounting bolts for these? I have a backrest mounted which mounts between the rear fender strut and the fender which means that the bolt or stud needs to be a bit longer, probably about 1/4" or so.
@weekendmotorcycleguy32294 жыл бұрын
Jeff, im sorry for missing this and you likely have already done something to your bike for the turn signals. But if not, yes, there are adapters. Look at A&J Cycles from New York. They have the adapters and feel free to send them a note. They will help answer specific questions for ya!
