When film was in its relative infancy they made film emulsion with potato starch which is extremely fine grain. Kodachrome has such a fine grain emulsion that it was capable of near limitless enlargement. Sensors in our digital camera will eventually have the same resolution as Kodachrome. Sony has developed a full frame sensor that is over 60 megapixels. Which means that each individual sensor is much smaller than a 8 megapixel sensor of my old EOS 10D. The trouble is that results of an electronic sensor and a frame of film dont behave the same.

a great camera, but like a large format view camera, you need to go slow, THINK, what button and or control you are using and why, how will this "get the photo", and as it is a manual camera, you didn't say it, but you wind on the film manually, so there are risks of double exposing, and not exposing at all (blank frames), so do as the aviation jet pilots do, THINK, LOOK, CHECK, then DO!! - as you only have twelve chances in a roll to get the shot.

SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME!!! So I have experience with ISO on a DSLR, but I’m new to film. I am confused whether the speed of the film is a set ISO. Meaning that even if I change the ASA on my film camera, it won’t have any effect on exposure. I’d appreciate any insight!
@1000000man110 ай бұрын
I think it has an effect. I think it over or under exposes it, and you should only do it if you intend to compensate for it in the development process. I think that's what pushing a stop refers to.

Question, I’m brand new to film photography. Can I set my exposure at 1/500 and leave it on there when I’m shooting? Do I have to change it depending on the weather outside? My iso is 400.

wish I watched this like days ago. got my scans back and my 400 film speed was set at 200 ISO, looks extra grainy. is that a normal expectance
@error415105 жыл бұрын
A lot of people actually recommend shooting 400 speed film at ASA 200. I got grainy/under exposed photos shooting 400 film at ASA 400 (box speed). I got better results when I started shooting it at ASA 200 but now some shots taken on very sunny days end up being over exposed. Everything else looks way better than box speed though. Hopefully others can chime in about this!

Is it a hard rule that you need to match the asa dial with your film speed? I shoot Fuji 400 on an Olympus OM1, and I'm wondering if let's say I'm outdoors and want to shoot at f2 or f1.4... can I drop my asa dial down to expose properly? The camera has a built in light meter, but I haven't tried this yet.

Thanks, as a new RB67 owner all information is welcomed. The video would have gone to the next level for me if you had gone into the camera setting a little more. The mirror up function and overall zeroed in on the actual setup. Being new to all this having a gear list would help immensely.

So if you have a camera that doesn't have the specific film speed, so for example I have a 125 film but my camera only has 100 or 200 speed. Can I still use my film?
@demkadeem6 жыл бұрын
You forgot to mention that you have to advance the film on the back after every shot as well as the camera doesn’t automatically advance the film when you reset the mirror

If this isn't already a thing, somebody should make backs that fit into old cameras and make them digital. Then you can have your classic camera and not have to deal with the problems of film.

No. You can actually rate it at a different speed of you want to get different effects.
