The fullest extent of Jacksonville’s construction ability are 4 story apartment buildings and the renovation of early 1900’s buildings that should be demolished. We couldn’t build a high rise if our lives depended on it. I forget what a crane actually looks like.

Be fair to the new residents of Kings Landing off of Old Kings Road and Lane Ave. Let them know of the "Pickettville Road Landfill in Jax/Fl. An EPA Superfund Site." Before they sink their hard earned money into this neighborhood. Its the Christian thing to do.

Will there ever be a mall? 🙂 Recently moved from Chicago and hope Jax can keep growing!

I just wish downtown Jax would have the walkability of cities like Amsterdam with decent public transportation, affordable housing, 3rd spaces like public parks, less centralization on cars (except service vehicles, emergency vehicles etc) We could always invest more in the skyway, open air trollies on the roads, and motorcycle pulled carriages. Also more bike lanes so the roads are more cyclist and electric scooter friendly. All of this is sure to build upon itself and bring in more people over time. Downtown would be flourishing like it once did in the 1920s with small businesses (creating more jobs), marketplaces, and liveliness filling the empty streets. Hopefully, not in a gentrification way that pushes out the locals but in an all inclusive way. I’d personally like to see more murals from local artists all around downtown. Make downtown Jax as colorful as parts of Miami

Also since it rains here very often, having overhead structures in most public spaces especially on walkways and sidewalks wouldn’t hurt.

I'm from Jacksonville, currently live in Poinciana, FL near Orlando, and I remember the LaVilla district being full of old house, old buildings, even a large Firestone sign and their garage. All of that was gone so many years later, so did the soul of what LaVilla use to be. Now with new construction, LaVilla is slowly getting back to what it was. Great job!

Thanks for the information! New to the area and so surprised that in 2022, the city is just starting to build up the downtown area. I came from a city that it’s residents felt was “behind/slow”, but several years ago our downtown went through a major overhaul and now there’s so much to do and all within walking distance. I’m excited for Jacksonville and looking forward to it’s downtown overhaul. I’m sure it will be great!

As a lifelong resident of this town for 53 years, I don't miss the days of the church outside the coliseum telling me I was going to hell for watching a rock band. We still have remnants of movie production studios.. Wanna know why they left?

Its Only been 25 years to do something downtown. Except the #1 issue remains. There's no viable public rail system to get people in and out of the city. To airport, beaches, Southside. Etc.
