It's the top mount plate (default plate)

You're actually not supposed to rest your hands on the wrist rest when you're typing. It's called a wrist rest for a reason. In fact, wrist rests are redundant and help nothing, especially hard wooden ones. I hope your hands and wrists see this comment and convince you to get rid of it, lots of pain in the long run.
