Those are not tips and tricks, those are exploits (and they look foolish), ones that could also break any time or break your game after an update.

I know it's quite late for this question but anyone know a blueprint copy-paste mod that allows you to copy-pastes things like teleporting sorters? I quickly realized even if I use these sorters to create 1-belt input&output setup when I try to paste it to increase production rates they fail to paste and dont work. Would be great since multiplying production is the name of the game.

I just tried out the two ways you demonstrated at 7:50. Seems like neither of them is working anymore. Does it mean the only way to make these compacted belts is to paste them from an existing blueprint?

The sorter teleportation doesn't seem to work anymore. I tried to create a simple 20x1 smelters blueprint which produces iron ingot. Very simple setup: the belt underneath send in iron ore. I used one teleported sorter at full height (from your toolbox) for output. When I copy it to somewhere else, some output sorter will send items to the belt underneath which will jam the belt. I tried to only remove the belts after construction and force repaste the blueprint again (that seems to work according to some guides I found online). However it still would not fix the problem for me. Also I noticed that the problematic sorters kept changing as I re-paste the blueprint. Not sure if I am doing something wrong. Some tips would be super helpful since this is now breaking quite a few of my blueprints.

This big update is the first time I was somewhat worried about things being patched out. Most of these tricks would require a major rewrite of some base mechanics to remove, I bet these tricks will still exist for another few years now.

Man, this is exploit galore lmao. Defeats the whole idea of using different speed belts midgame that are 2 or 3 grid away from a machine to still get the insertion speed you need to feed it. I guess its ok for people who want to play like that. I get more joy out of it building something normally and make it work and still be efficient. But I see the appeal. It saves alot of space and can make more space efficient machines. The only trick I use is to use sorters instead of long belts sometimes when I need to move a small expensive quantity of items from a machine to another, mainly the big charging stations with accumulators where you don't want hundreds of charged batteries sitting on the belts. But amazing finds. The 4 stacked belt system is truly something. 3 inputs and 1 output on one "belt" is really crazy. Not many people even pierce inbetween the machines to do an input or output and vanilla style it is pretty difficult to do and barely expandable. You get a like anyways.

I personally like those tricks with belts but i find it a bit cheaty, my rule for my games is simple, everything which can be built by hand is legal as long as it doesnt look completely broken. (I accidentally got a belt turn like those with those belt towers in my game once by hand, no blueprint involved)
@LudusMachinae

you can find lots of little weirdness like this by just playing the game. Blueprint mode is just the easiest way to control exactly how things end up.

that is covered in part 1 of my advanced belt tips and tricks. that is why at 6:00 I say it is not hard to make these individual pieces, all the pieces are easily buildable with only tricks found in part 1. If you still have problems let me know, (especially because specifically the trick at 6:00 has problems being done now and needs adjustment)

My blueprints aren't really good for anything, I make them as personal challenges and small examples of build techniques. These videos are so other people can make actual good blueprints using the techniques I find. They are the only "good" part of anything I've made.

These are some very cool techniques but the video would really benefit if you had written a script first.It's frustrating listening to you try to stutter through a complicated explanation that you sometimes had to *correct during editing
@LudusMachinae

That's the number 1 thing I learned. Improvising that part was a bad idea but that's actually the best/least edited portion of the recording. My confidence level at that point was off the charts and my stutter *nearly* disappeared.
