Why do you call them almond tarts the only almond in there is the almond extract . Most of your recipes only have almond extract in not any sort of almonds
@karenskitchen77716 күн бұрын
Most of my almond recipes have almond paste in them. This one, I forgot about putting sliced almonds on top. 😃

@. That’s funny because that’s not what I saw , just don’t call them almond whatever 😂😂

*correction - you listed 1 cup of butter in recipe for your crumble BUT in your Video you only use 1/2 cup butter, should correct that! Platz is our family favourite too, my grandmother always made it, great for gatherings

Hi Karen, Thanks so much for sharing your recipe. What type of flour? All purpose or self-rising.
@karenskitchen7779 ай бұрын
All purpose flour. No need for a rising agent. You want this to be 'dense' but don't over bake so it stays 'moist'.

I make my own sauce with much lower sodium. I use a large can of no sodium added tomato sauce, i can of no sodium or low sodium tomato sauce. Add in the garlic powder, garlic powder, and Italuan Herbs. This next ingredient you may wish to leave it but i also use pepperika. I go by the way it smells. I one it boils, i lower the heat to low and let it simmer for an hour. Lolol unless i wish to drive my neighbors crazy. Im in a high rise. Lolol they love the smell. My sauce is widely requested.

I've recently started making my sauce with diced tomatoes (no salt), no paste, but all the spices, and it is so good! I think I like it better than the one I have here.

Thanks for the really nice demo! Your almond puff is a beautiful one. And your crust pastry mixing method is the best - it’s the one I myself settled on after trying the various methods people use for it (cutting butter into flour results in too-crumbly a crust, I think).

Ketchup is loaded with sodium - just saying.... There are low sodium ketchups, but basically putting sodium free ketchup in the sauce is just adding sugar and more tomato paste. I would like to see a better sauce without that sodium!

Looks wonderful! I've been doing my chocolate cherry cakes very similar to this. It's delicious it's easy and what more could you ask for. I cannot stand the taste of canned frosting for that matter I don't even like buttercream so I've learned to make stabilized whipped cream frosting with cream cheese and sugar. You can't taste the cream cheese but the whipped cream frosting will hold up for ever if it's refrigerated! Do you have a recipe for cream cheese frosting made with whipped cream leaving that cream cheese taste. In other words similar to what I'm doing but not so sweet that it cuts all the tartness of the cream cheese. It sounds so simple but I'm a little at a loss of how to do this. I don't know if I'm describing it well or if it's even a thing but yeah cream cheese frosting made with whipped cream. As opposed to whipped cream frosting made with cream cheese to stabilize. Now I'm rambling and probably have totally confused you!
@karenskitchen7772 жыл бұрын
I haven't used cream cheese for that. I usually use some instant vanilla pudding powder to stabilize the whip cream, it works well. Just add a couple teaspoons instant vanilla pudding per cup of unwhipped cream. I add some sugar to sweeten as well and whip together and you'll see it's stiffer with the pudding powder.
@vlrissolo2 жыл бұрын
@@karenskitchen777 well, I was just learning and I went on KZbin to figure out how to stabilize with cream and cream cheese was one of the things several people recommended. I found it to be delicious! I must have had it on hand. I've not tried the pudding because I'm so hooked on the cream cheese method. I think I will though per your suggestion! Hope you'll be putting out some more videos soon. Meantime I'll be catching up with your older ones!

@karenskitchen7772 жыл бұрын
You bet. I like to make small ones, partially baked. Works great to fit small ones in an air fryer if you have one of those. It's very handy having the crusts ready to go in the freezer. I also like to freeze the sauce in ice cube trays. One cube for a small 8inch pizza.
