Your screen has different feature. I don’t have the menu on the bottom left of the screen.

You want three gold heros for gathering with maxed out gathering perks. None of the purple or blue heros can beat a gold hero with same perks. Gold heros do gather faster if the perk is maxed out. Max out the World Map Collection speed perk, Food or Oil Gathering Speed perk, and Gathering Load perk. Gold heros have a max of 44%. Where purple are capped at 24%. Ganzo and Tywin are 2 gold heros that you should max out for gathering purposes with maxed out gathering perks as well.
