would this kind of bicycle be able to handle bumpier, rockier, rootier stuff better than a pure cyclocross bicycle?
@Jobhx5 жыл бұрын
You can't compare the two. A cyclocross bike is basically a road bike with fatter/nobbier tires, the Fargo is a mountainbike with fixed fork.

Hey man, what where your sleeping arrangements? As i want to do a cycle trip to Aus but im concerned about deadly spiders!
@Jobhx5 жыл бұрын
You really really really shouldn't be. In my 3 months in Oz I have not had any close contact with deadly spider, drop bears, or other deadly animals. While on the bike I have seen some snakes, but that's it. Don't focus on the horror stories you read. Remember people only share those stories because they are interesting. When nothing happens (99,9% of the time), it is not shared. Anyway, to answer your question, I just had a simple Nordisk tent. Nothing special, but did the job. Good luck with your preparations. What will your route look like?

What tires? Seems to handle trails really well.

how did you find riding the Fargo on roads? Was your tour mainly on roads? Interesting choice of bike if so.
@Jobhx7 жыл бұрын
Hi Ben, this tour was all on paved roads, and I never regretted bringing the Fargo! It handles it very well!

Australia looks like a boring asss place to cycle tour

The challenge is mental as much as it is physical. Probably more. This is why everyone lives on the coast where there is actually something to look at.

How many miles was that and how much elevation gain? Did you have cyclocross tires on? I've found when it gets real bumpy that drop bars, when riding on the hoods, can jar out of your hands and be a bit difficult to grab brake sometimes. Anyone else have that problem or suggestions?
@Jobhx8 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure how many miles/elevation gain. I think I was running stock mountainbike tires at that time: Schwalbe Rapid Rob's.

It is fun! It's in the south of the Netherlands.

I notice you spend most of the time on the hoods rather than in the drops. Do you prefer the upright position, or is it something else?
@Jobhx9 жыл бұрын
As it was my first proper ride on the Fargo, I guess I felt a bit more secure riding on the hoods. Braking and shifting is a bit easier that way too I think, but I have to say that I haven't really tried this route in the drops. I'll try that next time!
@praharin9 жыл бұрын
JBHD Thanks. I've found a good way to start is being in the drops for uphills first. It keeps you from getting that feeling of being too far forward. That said, it didn't really seem to hinder you in the rougher bits. If it's working, keep it up.

Jesse Foust I know that in my limited experience riding my CX bike on singletrack that the drops just feel uncomfortably far from the levers. Maybe that sensation will fade as a gain confidence.
