Another point to be made is the influence of the powder size distribution on the powder bed density. I recall from an earlier paper by Rand German on powder injection molding that the highest powder bed densities are obtained with a trimodal powder size distribution so that you can exceed 74% packing density and as great as 90%, which leads to higher green density and therefore higher final part density. A nano-sized powder size could fit between the porous areas of the powder bed. Just a thought.

These models may need to be adjusted to account for the time and cost for qualification and certification of the particular material system, would they not? The additional dilemma I find is that we might be able to cut down the production time but still we need to test a certain number of samples for meeting the "B" basis design allowables.
