Hi Chrissy. There is nothing wrong with the structure of your mob farm. The location however is problematic and the main reason why it works so slowly. TL/DR: Your farm needs to be higher up, so you can stand 128 blocks above the ground when you use it. So way up in the sky. The proximity of your mob farm to the caves below you, allow for mobs to spawn in the caves, instead of spawning in your farm. Because there is a limit (mob cap) to how many mobs the game will spawn in around the player, you want to place your farm where the game mechanics see it as the only valid spawn location for mobs. The solution to this is to move up into the sky, so you have 128 blocks below the location you stand at while using the farm. I hope this helps you in the future. Good minecrafting !
