The ten years I owned my 2010 Lancer I didn't have a single repair. Nothing went wrong with it. Strictly regular maintenance and a couple sets of tires. Most reliable car I ever owned. I agree about the styling. I had the Sportback, which I feel is better looking than the sedan. I got compliments about its looks even after it was 9 or 10 years old. It still looked better than many new cars and most people thought it was fairly new just from it's looks.

I had a 2010 Sportback GTS, also in Rally Red. My paint held up really well. I lived in California when I owned it (from 2011 to 2021) and I kept it in a garage when I was not away from home. After 10 years the paint looked as good as the day I bought it new. I had three gripes - I'm tall and the steering wheel doesn't telescope so when I had the seat pushed back to get all the legroom I could my arms were almost stretched straight out. Second was the road noise. It was pretty bad - there was really not insulation. Third was the ride. I had the 18" wheels and it was pretty rough. As far as power went I was quite happy with it. I had the 2.4 engine and it had plenty of power to merge onto a freeway.

May be a super late response I apologize. I believe it shows the solution in the video that my car blew up in the trailer. I had to cut the springs to make the gap sit a little lower. It's still there but much less noticeable.

DEFINITELY probably his heavy foot 😅 . I average 26 miles per gallon driving it mostly economically on city and highway roads. But if I drive it mostly on highways and am very conscious of gas consumption with how I drive and driving behind other cars and make sure all of my parts are good on my car (i.e. engine air filter, oil, spark plugs, etc.) and PSI on the tires, weight, aerodynamics, etc., I can get 42 miles per gallon according to the on-board computer on my Kia.

The complaints he had are minor but overall it's a great car. I was 60 when I bought mine and just turned 65. It is a 2008, very clean Athens Blue with auto and factory GPS. The screen as he points out is outdated and I will have to say the GPS function is slow to respond. Don't know why they made the follow line in yellow as it's hard to see in the day. No issues with using my phone GPS, but prefer using the installed one. Also with this older car and technology, you have to go to Infiniti to upgrade your GPS for 200.00 and the upgrade only goes to 2015. I bought a Bluetooth after market that plugs into the port in the console. Works great. With technology the way it's going, looking to upgrade to an installed Garmin GPS that will integrate with my home screen. For an old geezer like me, I love the look, style and speed this 15 year old car gives. Hoping to hang on to it for years to follow.

I hate cars mainly because I find driving boring and hate doing it. However the thing I hate more is car dependency in cities. The way cities are designed in the country I live are so predominantly for cars with massive roads, huge parking lots bigger than the stores they serve, and such massive underfunding of public transport that everyone HAS to drive to get places. And considering how much cars cost forcing people to drive just to work and feed themself is just wrong on so many levels. Also cad infastructure is so outrageously expensive too it costs so much to taxpayers. Look up any American city followed by “high way expansion” and you could probably find a project of widening a highway costing tens of BILLIONS of dollars meanwhile that same city public transit probably doesn’t run anymore than one bus per hour becuase there’s no funds for it Now if you want to be a “car guy” then I have nothing wrong with that. I make robots as a hobby so we both like machines just different kinds. But if you are gonna be a car guy don’t insist on being able to drive your car into a city and expect abundant parking everywhere to park your metal box hogging up all the public space and especially don’t drive it into a city to infest it with noise and air pollution and make it dangerous for the people who live there.

What about when your in reverse? Don't you kind of have to ride the clutch an bit? Also don't you have to ride the clutch an little to get 1st up to speed? Also I think you have an Subaru like me, I'm down shifting when it starts to go below 2,000rpm and up shift at 3,000rpm while happily maintaining 2,500 when ever possible. Please let me know if you agree with my assessment. I really want my car to last an long time Thanks. 🏹🤠👍
@marcushowell
@marcushowell Жыл бұрын
Yeah, in reverse it's normal to ride your clutch since you have to limit your speed. In 1st gear you shouldn't have to ride your clutch unless you're in something like stop and go traffic where you have to keep inching forward. I have a Mitsubishi Lancer but yeah that's about the right RPM for "normal" driving. Just make sure you keep your maintenance up and your car should last. 👍

Bruh, accelerating in a high gear isn't gonna wear the transmission any faster. Sure, lugging the engine can damage it, but the transmission isn't gonna get damaged by the torque your car puts down at 2k rpm
