Le dîner 😮 les bruitages 😮 le calvaire 😮 Sauf pour les animaux, le bruit ne me dérange pas quand ils mangent. C'est bizarre. Je ne suis pas autiste.

I wish that I could get my own apartment 1 day and a job but I feel like the town that I live in Ontario is not accepting at all. And I've tried so hard to get a job at this point. I'm kind of willing to even talk to the mayor. Every job here I've gone to everything I've applied for I've always gotten declined. Just because of the way I am or that's how I feel at least

I love what you say around 7:33! Tuned in because I'm reading your book and realized I'd like to hear your voice. My first close contact with individuals on the spectrum was as a substitute educational assistant in a classroom for nonverbal elementary aged students. Although I am very verbal, my immediate feeling was that I had found my people. I intuitively understood these kids right away, picked up on their to me very obvious communications and did everything I could to help them feel validated and supported. Their response was so very rewarding.

I'm currently a teaching assistant helping out with a class of autistic kids. I've been looking for reading material to help me understand their condition, and Michael's book was a hilarious, touching, and insightful way to understand it from the inside. I can't wait to hear more from him!

Now if only typically developed children were taught to be kind and accepting. Always demands put on the disabled.

you can be fully aware and be able to walk and talk but if you have muscle and mental delay then you can still have incontinence issues

my math teacher is extremely loud when she talks so it's exhausting suffering through it every day during 3rd period after i have chem 1st and 2nd. it's horrid. today i forgot my earplugs so i was literally on the verge of tears. i asked to go to the bathroom and she said "after you finish those problems" and i just said ok but my hands were shaking and i winced every time she spoke or said anything, even when i was sitting in the back of the room, and when i finally got to the bathroom i really didn't want to go back though i had to and then i went to the nurse during 4th pd because of my horrible headache i got from that + the sensory overload. it feels like her voice pierces my ears. and she's a good teacher... her teaching methods work for me... i just can never focus since she's so loud unless i discreetly cover my ears + don't forget my earplugs. one day she pulled me over after classed and asked me to try more. i am trying so fucking hard i was doing my best for god's sake just to focus. and i get good grades because at home i learn the stuff in like 5 minutes tops, do my homework in 10, because i'm in a quiet, comfortable environment where i can be productive and focused without distractions. i end up hyperfocusing on my homework if i know it's just math or something. if there's too much on my plate or i'm stressed about overdue work then it's just i wanna curl up and sleep on the floor like my cat. weird thing to say but if not for cat vision i would want to be a cat

Thanks for the insight- though as I learn about this I start to question the differences between inattentive ADHD & Autism, which I'm aware often co-exist!

am I jumping the gun by thinking this video could have included more information such as what Adam is experiencing when the other children come out of the classrooms ie whether Sensory Overload [sound etc] or even Sensory Deficit, how he thinks feels etc. Social anxiety etc?

One major sensation i love but its a weird one.. when my hair gets long and tickles the inside of my ear especially going to sleep.. its weird I can put the hair in my ear on purpose but it's 10 times better when it naturally falls in.. its odd but if you know you know!

My son with autism was diagnosed with Ehlers Danlos and Mast Cell activation syndrome. If you are listening to this video and hearing the part about stomach issues, it could be related to this. It causes gut motility issues and can be addressed with medication.
