Thank you for this video. Very informative. I've been hearing for a while now that MCM isn't quite what it used to be and it's been hard for me to understand why. I don't know if I'll be going at the end of this month but I know I'll definitely be going to MegaCon in January, at least. I wanna experience the supposed authenticity and have never been before. Nice to hear more from you besides Primeval content! People like you are an underrated beating heart of geeky/nerdy stuff!

It’s never Too late for a Sequel of a Videogame, a Movie, a TV show Comics,Novels Etc Etc (just the only thing is that must Respect the First Movie, it’s Characters and Tell a Good Storyline). For an Example just look Warhammer 40,000 Space Marine that was Released In 2011 that didn’t Got a Sequel Announced until Confirmation in 2021 and with a Release of 2024 (and the Finished Game was Awesome).

Still remember the times over the last years, I was so frustrated and sad about letting a potential sequel die after they did deliver such an awesome gem. Now after the announcement I am happy and hope they can deliver a great sequel :)

I have to add this. I played alien isolation and it is the greatest game I have ever played I'm 46 years old and it's even better than Donkey Kong Junior which I played at the local bar when I was seven and eight. And I played alien isolation on my phone and it was spectacular. A game being on a phone is no excuse for it to be shity. Not anymore.

Nice video. A few notes: What ultimately killed Nessie was Hammer’s financial situation, as they couldn’t afford to finance their half of the film, though there were attempts to get the project off the ground as late as 1980. Secondly, the Dragon from Princess From the Moon isn’t Nessie’s prop. PFTM came out in 1987 and if you look at the reference photos of the Nessie maquette (as well as an ad that I can not for the life of me find the source for but the text looks almost Russian?) has a fairly different design. Add to the fact that, as good at practical effects as they are, Toho’s props aren’t designed to last (it only took four years and the Godzilla suit from destroy all monsters was falling apart onscreen by Godzilla vs Gigan), and it’s virtually impossible for the dragon to reuse the unused Nessie prop. However, Nakano did say that he used the Nessie prop as inspiration for the dragon’s design, so it does connect somewhat.

I’m seventy and watched An Unearthly Child as a nine-year-old back in 1963. This is just my personal opinion but I detested Richard Hurndall as the First Doctor; I guess my memory of William Hartnell meant I couldn’t accept Hurndall as the Doctor. Whereas like you I was absolutely sold on David Bradley's interpretation of both Hartnell and the First Doctor in An Adventure in Space and Time, such that I forgave him the appearance in Twice Upon a Time, The Doctor Falls and The Power of the Doctor. So I’d give Bradley four out of five, Hurndall minus five out of five and although I’ve not bought any of the Big Finish audio books, like you I don’t think Stephen Noonan sounds like Hartnell and would give him two out of five. If we were to get a spinoff television series of the First Doctor adventures, for me it would have to be Bradley.

Interesting! I watched Doctor Who in order(other than three random new who episodes) from An Unearthly Child forward- and Richard Hurndall just did NOT do it for me. David Bradley (story writing and direction aside) totally does. Otherwise I agree with most everything you say! :p

Alien isolation 2 could most certainty happen. It could just be a retelling of the same story with an alternate ship design and a different or improved playstyle, animations, and graphics. How about a different story and different playstyle? Imagine a military perspective where your team is sent to recover special intellectual property. You are the new recruit and your objective is to get the objective and get out. Its possible you can make it out with your whole team, its possible youll be the first to die. Distances between save points is much greater, there are less frequent encounters with the alien, and there are other life threatening hazards than just the alien. This builds up the tension having the player almost wanting to see the alien just to get it over with. But sometimes the alien shows up sooner, and sometimes you get a double event between save points. Yeah i think that would be a pretty good game.

To be fair, The First Doctor seems to be written similarly in the Five Doctors as he is in Twice Upon A Time, but I admit it is definitely far more egregious in the latter. Either way, even if there is precedent, it’s totally unnecessary and unjustified. It’s an inaccuracy that should’ve been corrected.

I think a sequel would never come 'too late.' The game was a great version of survival horror, and a delightful utilization of the Alien™ IP. I think rather than a continuation of Amanda Ripley's story, a new story in a different setting would work great. I feel like a similar follow to the way Alien was followed by Aliens, a sequel game on a planet would be a good follow up. A setting similar to that of being a colonist from LV-426 as the colony is beginning to experience the early days of the xenomorph infestation. Perhaps a colonist returning from far off surveying, or a more cliche colonist waking from a coma mid to late in the infestation process. That way you could center the plot around trying to find a way to call for help and escape off the planet, and naturally having a 'rescue team' arrive that is more interested in recovering Alien samples than saving civilians.

I'm going to let you in on something a lot of people don't know. The real reason there hasn't been a sequel to Alien Isolation. Fox/Disney no longer own the Alien IP. There is an absurd copywrite law in the US that allows writers and creaters to retrieve their works, reguardless of contracts, after 40 years. The estate of Dan O'Bannon took ownership of the IP from fox and did a deal with Ridley Scott, effectively giving him full control of the franchise for the rest of his life. Fox remains distributor and financier, but they have zero creative control or licensing rights. Ridley Scott hates James Cameron's Aliens and the things it added to what he considers his world. Amanda Ripley is a James Cameron creation, and Scott won't allow any Cameron created concepts to be used ever again. No queens, no marines, no daughters. He also doesn't want to pay cameron because 40 years is up on aliens as well and that stuff goes to Cameron as his property. Now you know. No isolation 2.,

sometimes one part is enough, the sequel and prequel fanatics these days made storys and characters worse and worse. movies games series prequels and sequels are sometimes not needed. i would like a similar game with the alien or even with an predator but with different characters and story behind set in another timeperiod, i think it would be best doing such kind of game. and with an predator it must be even more demanding because of the tech and skill an predator would have. imagine an predator game like the first movie but with an story and gameplay like alien isolation but even mor difficult because the enemy would be an predator, but i don`t see such an game be made in todays gaming world because it would be soo bad and stupid it would fail horribly. Games movies and series are not even close the best when it comes too inteligence anymore. and most people don`t even have the patience today an real AAA survial horror game is in need of. so maybee in 10 - 20 years when mankind has changed from stupid too inteligence once more an game like this can be made again. the same would be for an splinter cell game and any real stealth game sadly, people today would hate it. one thing the horrible ign review of isolation is good at, and that is predicting the future of gaming short term. because games today are just grafic grafic grafic anything else is not important anymore. look at the actual console gerneration and there games grafics over everything else ( thats also why making a game is so expensive these days because mega grafics cost a lot an awfull lot of money ).

This is my I’m opinion before watching this video )I don’t think so considering how the Space Marine 1 came out in 2011 and the second one came out this years. Compared to Alien isolation which came out in 2014. I think alien isolation still has a chance.. obviously there is more things to consider than just that ( also I know it takes time to make a game ) I also realize that alien isolation received poor reviews ( unjustified) alien isolation but I think that alien isolation has a huge fanbase and there is a demand for horror Alien games especially after the newest movie. I think that the direction of aliens game franchise has gone to deep into Action . I enjoyed Fire team elite and I heard good things about Dark decent But those games don’t have the essence of what makes Alien… Alien .

The first memories I have, not just of who, but of my life, is watching The Five Doctors. As such, Hurndall is the 1st Doctor for me. The mannerisms, the voice, the look. When I finally did see actual Hartnell stories it was a bit jarring but I grew to love him. To the audio ones, I am not a big fan of Bradley and his cast. It's a bit too far removed from the originals having listened to years of companion chronicle adventures. He was superb in AIT&S and I enjoyed and I enjoyed him in Power of the Doctor. Purves and Russel each gave very good likenesses of the 1st. Of the two, I think Purves does the better impression with the right HMM sounds and cadence of the voice. Noonan I haven't had enough listens to have an impression of him yet, and while it's not really Hartnell there is still something strong in the performances I have heard. With regards to recasting, I feel it is an inevitability as we've lost many beloved members of the cast in the last decade. Some have been recast with their family members and been wonderful, some with excellent impressionists (Culshaw and Trelor especially). I am open to the idea going forwards.

Never realised that William Russel was the father of Alfred Enoch, best known as Dean Thomas in the Harry Potter movies. That makes another connection, as Harry Melling (Dudley Dursley) is Patrick Troughton's grandson - and of course David Bradley was in the movies as Argus Filch. I think we all know the other two connections - David Tennant and Roger Lloyd-Pack... For Twice Upon A Time, I was a bit disappointed they didn't get Reece Shearsmith back from An Adventure In Space And Time for the First Doctor's regeneration scene, but I think they did a good enough job of blending the old footage into the new and back.
