They also mix passives pretty well, and the hybrids are kinda fun. Plus moving blight is really really good.

Great guide, and the Beast Tyrant is my favorite Gloomhaven class! What is your reason for not taking Concentrated Rage for the final build? Venomous Ally seems a little out of place for an all-out bear build.
@benlikesgames317711 ай бұрын
You know I'm looking at the cards again and I'm not really sure why. Maybe the bottom ranged attack seemed more generally useful in longer scenarios or I thought the poison would synergize well as a non loss. In reality I probably didn't read all the level 1 cards very closely. Concentrated Rage fits really well here.

Something worth noting in any updated future guides for this beast of a team player: Players need to remember that they Special Rules treat more or less all your lands as adjacent! This is ridiculously broken in group play because G4 let's you place a Presence literally anywhere on the island. This makes everything you touch adjacent. It's like reverse isolate!

0:35 i would like to add: there is also a ratio to the income. Cotton and Pottery have high cost, but low income relative to their costs. - in the Canal-aera i concentrate heavily to increase my income with the cheapest buildings possible. Coal and Iron can give u back the cost quite often, beer is always kinda good, consumer goods are mostly easy to place down (i always develop Lvl 2 and 5 away) - in the Rail-Aera i go full Victory points. If u already have a good amount of income, then u can aim for expensive buidlings easily. also, it has payed out for me, building good amount of coal mines around the aera change. Coal is much needed in the Rail-aera and gives the best income. good analysis anyway :) thank you !

I have a question, if you move an invader to a space with dahan in it, and then in ravage phase one of them died Does it triggers the responsibility to the dead special rule? The rule mention if your action "directly" lead to destruction of either dahan or invader you must destroy one presence and one energy you have is destruction as a result of ravage phase consider as inderect or direct?
@benlikesgames3177 Жыл бұрын
Your (spirit) actions are mostly uses of powers, or if an event or fear card directs you as the spirit to do something. There may be some edge cases, but if you look near the end of my Shifting Ages video I took a picture of the action definitions. A Ravage counts as an invader action, so push/gather is your action and does not directly destroy the Dahan. An exception would be something like if Melt Earth into Quicksand was played and you moved Dahan into that land. In that example, your action of push/gather directly destroyed the Dahan.

What do you think aboute the 2 card unique power that give fire+water and earth+moon that can be used on serpent only in solo mode? They have another spirit in the description, so you can't neither play additional card for obtain elements nor gain additional minor power (and maybe play it).

If I may add my favorite opening: I actually think it is worth taking a blight in one of the lands right off the bat and commit to G2 for first two turns. On turn 2, you get reclaim and you would want to use the energy gain from River's bounty and Boon for your energy gain supplementation. This should open enough to get the loop of spamming our innate in an obscene way. The quicker we get the Reclaim and 4 card play, the faster you can start grouping with all the Control mechanics of River and triggering that final tier of our Innate to wipe the floor with the Invaders. Taking a few blight so we can become an unstoppable AOE machine is very useful and worth it. Especially against Russia who has a ridiculous Explorer mechanic...

Time is a major problem for Cotton strategy in 3 and 4 man groups. You will have less actions making it more and more unlikely you will get that 3rd level 3 technology. In 3 player games Cotton is still somewhat manageable but Manufactured goods (with proper development) becomes better in 4 player games due to being able to complete it quicker and get that double hit from multiple eras. Great video a lot of good info with the point ratios and link points being shown visually.

I definitely been experimenting with G3 on T1 because with Adversaries you need to be able to tackle some BS amount of invaders right at the beginning. It opens Manifestations as an option to blow up major problems. I find Sudden Ambush drops off in efficacy quickly and is worth dropping for a Major Power involving Dahan (like Sun Wings)

@@benlikesgames3177 and even Adversaries can be a case by case. I imagine Sudden Ambush is good against Russia due to the Explorer rules. If one can group them together with a load of Dahan, Ambush can eliminate a group of them and leave 1 behind.

1:22 The animals don't really have there own point system cause in later rounds you trade them up to green or even blue and you shouldn't have any animals at the end of the game left. An island could get you income more quickly as the homeboard has +2 silver to cover and then next step you gain only +2 silver. Island don't have this interruption. I saw images were somebody only gets all the -1 filled on homeboard+ 2 income from island and the rest is islands or houses. Also you didin't spoke about emigration much in point value. Some games you will have 2-3 or even more emigrations, some games have no emigration at all. You should also calculate the costs for the dice roll action, cause it costs you most times at least 1 ressource or more. Some cards also could change your score, depending on how you play them or if you play them only for points.

Such a great spirit. Among the Horizon's spirits he is as popular in our group as the Mud Badger. Also one of the best users of the 011 growth pattern in no small part to that huge +4 energy G2 and 4 placement range on G3. Straight down the bottom track for 3-4 turns is definitely the right way to play him in most scenarios, but he's actually not bad with majors either. He's great when teaching newbies as he provides two different boons to help them out and can cross the table effortlessly with his G3. He also holds down his board impressively well. Most of the best majors in the game are on element for him, which is an nice upside as well. (and surprisingly affordable for him) His end state track is quite good as well if he ever manages to reach it. The biggest downsides imo are just lack of fear generation, and no defensive tools outside of pushing. Against adversaries like England, pushing just isn't good enough, and he can really struggle. His slow presence placement can be a problem, but getting a power card on 2 of the 3 growth options limits how often he needs to reclaim.
@BlitkriegsAndCoffee2 жыл бұрын
Conceptually I love the idea of this spirit, and I've put more time into it than any of the other Horizon's spirits. Unfortunately I've found it to be a little disappointing. The growth pattern you suggested is basically the only line of play for him, and the special ability railroads you into damage dealing powers over control or defense. Elements are normally on the top track to help major strategies trigger their innate, but Teeth's are on the bottom, meaning going down the bottom triggers the innate more reliably and gets you to more card plays. His strong initial defense and damage cards also give him the classic problem many 111 growth spirits have of reclaim looping often being the best strategy. On the bright side, people love his boon. It lets them solve early problem lands or else clear out their coastal city abnormally early. His playstyle is likewise fairly straightforward and makes a lot of otherwise only so-so cards into powerhouses. His mobility can be very useful if a teammate needs support. His tracks, while very long, do end with powerful numbers. He's reasonably good with even non-damaging minors, and turns just about every major into an even bigger haymaker.
