Novacane is best for lead and foil also just have to change the temperature
@SallyMiller-c6d19 сағат бұрын
Let free is used for jewelry only or things that people are going to handle you should use 60/40 for foil and 50/50 for using lead

When you foil you need a eighth of an inch on each side of the glass with the foil you can't overlap the foil with different foils on top it will just come off
@karensintuitivejewelry16 сағат бұрын
There’s lots of techniques where it’s okay to overlap your foil tape when using the Tiffany Method! It’s all about burnishing your tape well for a good connection!

When you use the sponge on your one you just brush it you don't soak it because then it will cool down your iron if you just brush the tip it doesn't affect it
@karensintuitivejewelry16 сағат бұрын
I don’t use a sponge even if just damp because it definitely cools the iron & the solder tends to roll off!
@SallyMiller-c6d19 сағат бұрын
You can use a rheostat but not in the heckle hecko has its own rear stack all soldering sticks come with their own tips they don't interchange with other ones
@karensintuitivejewelry16 сағат бұрын
Correct that a rheostat is not recommended or needed with this iron! And Yes most irons have their own specific tips that are NOT interchangeable with different brands of irons!

I have 2 sheets and they say there is a clear cover over it but I can't get it off?
@karensintuitivejewelry16 сағат бұрын
Try sandpaper! If the clear cover doesn’t just peel off then maybe it’s actually coated with something else! Have you tried soldering it?

Your crafting story sounds like mine!!! But with polymer clay and resin. I have wanted to try soft soldering for quite some time but after all my aggravation and ruined craft projects I said no I cannot waste money on failure again. This is a great video. I at least have a great starting off point. The flux, soldering wire, soldering tool ect were confusing to figure it all out and get it in one cohesive video. Thank you for all the info and explaining what you experienced! So helpful.

Hi Karen, I’ve told you before that I love how much I appreciate you and your art; sharing it with us has given me a new outlook on what I may be able to do with my life as well. As you grow, we all grow. This one, made me laugh at one point. It looked like you were rolling something from a 70’s movie haha 😆. Never mind that, this is edgy and it’s going to knock peoples socks off. Peace out ✌️ 😉.

I was wondering if you could make one that has an image on both sides? So if one does flip, you get another piece. ❤️
@karensintuitivejewelry16 сағат бұрын
Sure you could if you have a double sided plate but not sure how plentiful those are but you could paint your own pieces or get glass tiles that are double sided!

Glad you high-polished the inside - I believe that is in case any stray light shining on the Opal will shine through.. Is this Cabochon translucent?
@karensintuitivejewelry22 сағат бұрын
I didn’t really polish the inside because it’s almost impossible in the first place! The stone is what’s known as a Triplet…1 layer of black stone or resin, the next layer is the Opal chips & the top layer is a very thick layer of resin! Thx for your interest & support! 🙏😊

I don’t know if I can afford to add yet… so many things I’d like to try to make and add to my crafting table. Just not making my $ back at this point I have been making a few things but nothing seems to work out .. maybe I am pulling everything to soon any way maybe next fall I can start . Looks good

Great piece of hard soldering. It looked like the bezel moved just as the solder flowed. I couldn't tell if the teeth softened and the bezel moved down or if the hold-it changed position but somenthing caused the bezel to move right as the solder flowed. So glad you show your challenges and your solutions.
