It's one of the most complex pieces of music I've ever heard and a testament to Malcom Mortimore and the finesse he had to pull it off so smoothly and tastefully...as great as John Weathers is, I can't see him doing that part very easily even though he could do seemingly anything he's been given He had his own style. I don't think Malcom's gotten much appreciation, but Weathers injected a lot of power into the mix when it was needed. They're all pretty amazing.

@@katmandew2152 I don't know how I missed them all this time. I bought a 3 CD set that has Angels Egg, and You, and play something from it about every day. Then I came across Kikagaku Moyo one night! Have you heard them? It's Japanese Psych, you should check out their recordings - Masana Temples, House In The Tall Grass, and Kumoyo Island. You might like them. Happy Holidays!

Separating these tracks is criminal. The bassline in the intro of Mister class & quality is the main melody in 3 friends. They are magical counterparts. 3 friends wouldn't sounds so amazing after any other song

For me this álbum is special. Not only space rock. It still sounds very modern. It blends rock, jazz, Electronic and even a bit of pre rap

I was really into the first two albums in this trilogy, and was shocked to find how this album was much more instrumental. I knew it would grow on me, but I didn’t know how monumental this song would be for me. The more you know the more you know you don’t know what you know

I remember the very first time I heard the shocking change at 5:50 ... I wasn´t paying that much attention, but then it happened. For a moment I couldn´t breathe. Couldn´t believe my ears, it was like crashing into a new celestial dimension.

This one is my favorite out of all the songs from "Three Friends" It's not as slow as the other ones. It has that signature Gentle Giant funk to it.

How funny the world of prog rock is..."Mister Class and Qualitiy?" resembles to the concept behind "Dogs" of Pink Floyd. Like Supertramp´s Crime of the Century and Floyd´s DOFTM

The "Three Friends" elpee is definitely more straightforward than the previous two efforts by the noble Giant. I'm chronologically listening to the entire Gentle Giant discography for the first time, and this is my favorite tune thus far. And despite it's conscious "inaccessible" eclecticism, I like the Acquiring the Taste album quite a bit.

Look around my rooms and see the prizes I have showing Working hard to build my life and plan the way I`m going House and car and pretty wife, they've all been won by knowing All been won by knowing All been won by knowing. Paperwork, white collared shirts, where would we be without Them Man of class and quality, I never shout about them Choose my friends for my own ends. You can`t succeed without them Can`t succeed without them Can`t succeed without them. Middleman sees straight ahead and never crosses borders Never understood the artist or the lazy workers The world needs steady men like me to give and take the orders Give and take the orders Give and take the orders.

Legendary album..one of my top ten for sure, the flute towards the end of this track somehow invokes a distant memory for me.. like a time from my early child hood and every time I hear this; it takes me there.. to the same place, same house by the cupboard under the stairs like it descended to a magical underworld and as an only child- I had a very vivid imagination. I can only assume that my memory was from 1977 when i was just 7.. warm feeling.
