Hello, I plan on replacing my throttle body for my 2001 Volvo S60 with a refurbished one I bought on Ebay. After installing the new one, is it safe to drive the car to a mechanic to reprogram for me? Thanks.

Hi. I had a lot of problems with the automatic transmission in my car. I changed the bushings of the solenoids. it was very nice car. However, a new problem has arisen. Except for shifting to D position and knocking.. there are no errors left. What do you recommend ? These are the symptoms. only when getting to the first D position.

Spray the connector with WD40 then wait. Push the pin and slide open.

Hey guys... I replaced the valve body on a 07' XC90. Now the vehicle has no reverse. Couple of threads I read online say a seal may have been damages upon installation but doesn't stay which seal. Was wondering if you might be able to point me in the right direction. Thanks.

actually on diesel models you dont need to take the alternator out to replace the regulator. with small screwdriver all is doable. Altough my regualtor looks a little bit different on 1997 s70.

I have a Volvo S80, but there is a defect in the throttle, I think, there is instability of the engine in the number of revs of the engine, is this from the throttle or not

Thanks, my etm makes a really loud high pitched noise, usually for a few seconds but ive had it not stop on other times, whats the reason for it not powering down?.

If you are watching this video for steps to replace the non-contact throttle position sensor, you need to remove the other side. The side without the access port.

@@ricardoramos3095 The contactless sensor is always fitted to the Position 2 sensor on the opposite side. There are 2 sensors on this throttle. The contactless sensor makes both of them reduntant.

I just fitted a new Volvo 36050563 throttle body to my 2001 S60--I have no method of checking or programming it. I watched this video and fitted the new throttle body just as he did and it works fine-the car runs and drives at least as well as it used to. The new throttle body was labeled :Made in Sweden and dated 52 2017.

Hello, i have the same problem and i buy a new throttle body for my Volvo v70 AWD- Turbo, i have VIDA All in One. So, Is there any option to "teach" the new throttle to work fine, cause i have a problem, when i instant press my pedal and the car is "interrupts" for a sec?

Very interesting video Mike, I will be ordering vida dice and doing this test and others although i am certain my ETM is bad. Looking into getting xemodex also found sellers on ebay advertising refurbished ETM. Not sure what direction to go with a new unit your advice would be helpful.

If you choose the BBA option or XeModex option both of them will supply you with the same unit you gave them, refurbished to their standards. XeModex's delivery options are limited and expensive. If I had a 2001 turbo I would be getting Vida to look at programming of your own unit then see if Volvo's solution will match according to the info here on this vid. I've purchased at least 6 or 7 units for customers from Volvo since 2015 and each one had the same software level to suit P2 T5 or 2.4T. Great thing about the Volvo unit is the contactless sensor now standard. I'm pretty certain BBA offer the same contactless rebuild. XeModex's warranty is for life on the vehicle you've specified.

@@precopster1 Hi Mike, I found the Xemodex unit on ebay the seller told me its from a working volvo and 6&7 vin numbers match my cars . You are right I will also get Vida and see if I can program the firmware should it come to it. My ETM is the Yellow sticker. Just curious as to the lifetime of Xemodex contact less TPS, as I am leaning in that direction. I am also going to check on BBA option not sure if they are also contact less, did not see it on the post will contact seller.. These Volvo cars area always keeping owners on their toes. Thank you for your advice Mike much appreciated.

@@AlanMedina314 VIN has nothing to do with the programming level. You can have 2 cars with a VIN number variation of only 1 digit at the end of the number. Depends on if car has been back to dealer for FW upgrades or not and which year firmware was fitted.

@@precopster1 My confusion came from the seller's nothing that comparability had to do with 6&7 digits of VIN number in my case 61 all that told me was engine number. A variation of single number did not know that. My best bes is to wait till vida can show me the firmware installed. I have no idea if it's been updated. Thank you for helping me in my ignorance.

TheLordofdrift contact CT Powertrain they have all the gear you need. Gaskets for the valve body are a few dollars extra. The pan gasket can be ordered through them as well which is a much better idea than using gasket goop which can be scraped off on the way back in. If I were to do it again I would have purchased new solenoids as after 4 years it is fault coding again. The biggest issue here is that the internal filter is usually quite clogged and will re-contaminate the fluid. Even when I fully drain the auto using Gibbons method it becomes dirty very quickly due to the filter.

Yes at the dealer. The cloned version of Vida won't allow the software download.

On watching this video two issues immediately stand out: 1. Assembling something as precise as a valve body outside under the open sky, 2. Assembling 'dry', i.e. using nothing to keep check valves etc. in place during assembly. I overhauled many Borg Warner boxes (Jaguar XJ6/Rover) in the 80s ... absolute cleanliness is crucial to avoid problems, or having to remove everything again. Address these issues and you can only improve.

Mike, this video is great. Honestly, it convinced me to (probably!) not try to rebuild my valve body. I bought the transgo solenoid rebuild and gasket kit. I have a saab, and I can get to the solenoids without removing the valve body. Current plan is to remove the pan, remove the solenoids, rebuild, and reinstall. What do you think? BTW - loved your son coming in to help! I hope you teach him the same skills that you've picked up. FYI kiddo coming into a video is no problem at all

Well it could have gone pear shaped but after almost 2 years and 14,000kms it shifts reasonably well. Of course it can slam into gears but with nowhere near the ferocity it did when first purchased. I lost 3rd gear shortly after the rebuild which was sorted by replacement of the 3rd gear friction band. I acknowledge that my video is somewhat disjointed and you can clearly see I'm not a professional and I don't pretend to be; just an average DIYer shadetree mechanic trying to pay the bills and give his family a safe vehicle without remortgaging the house. I saved over $4,000 when compared to a professional rebuild and as my last commenter so wisely added there are too many rebuilders out there hardly changing enough parts so it can just get through the 12 month warranty. Seems there are few rebuilders out there to trust and I had a go at this based on this advice.

I was laughing my ass. What an amateur. One can tell this guy has no idea how to assemble these valve bodies. "Oh, this didn't go very well..", that was funny. I may have done this too, years ago when I first started working on them. And all the garbage Transgo stuff. Who the hell uses those anyway? I never do. It's waste of money. Just like the Sonax overpriced c-rap. Can't blame the guy. I had to deal with a VB once supposedly "rebuilt" by professionals and found numerous issues with it. Of course that VB failed. Missing parts inside? I laugh at how stupid many folks are to think that the overpriced junk like Transgo and Sonax will fix the Valve body. It won't. Unless you get a good section with little wear that Transgo junk won't cut it.

Well the car it was fitted to was written off so I'll never find out. As the bearings were spinning without noise I expect it would last at least a couple of years at least. Most problems with alternators not producing voltage are in the regulator area.

Yes I helped a guy do this once however it was more than 2 years ago and I don't recall if there was a software download involved. In CEM parameters I think you need to set upper and lower temperatures of the seats. The seats must be of the heated type of course (or have an element of similar wattage inserted) and you're going to need the factory switch in the climate panel.

Have you selected all the vehicle parameters properly in Vehicle Selection? Also can you perform a communication test of the Dice tool?

Remember that the people who sold you this package are the least likely to know how it works. Try applying the patch supplied to the root directory of "C" drive instead of the Vida folder. This seems to fix most login problems
