Good to see motorcycles being ridden in a spirited but responsible manner. The prehistoric Velocette ridden by a capable rider is a joy to see.

That look like a very enjoyable pootle. I thought all the roads stateside were six lanes wide, and packed with cars. This is more like it; the sort of roads that God made bikes for.

My last bit of advice would be to tuck your hair into your jacket. For a joke I was going to glue a big Aria Grande pony tail to the inside rear of my helmet. Though however fun, I didn't want a bunch of leg humpers to start trying to chase me around. We saw what happened to KneedragginChick. I got burned one time like that by chasing what turned out to be some pro road racer dude on a 600. I was so relieved to discover the hoax after being outrun on my Gen II Busa all the way up to Newcomb's.
@Tetge4 жыл бұрын
What would you, with a crew cut, know about tucking hair in? My hair was just fine after the ride, and, is not an issue for me. Also, the 2015 basic Calif spec Duke does not have any nannie options other than anti lock brakes. Owners of the new revised models complain that they will not do wheelies and stuff, but, the older base models are more crude. In other news I took my dog Mustang out over Mt Emma this morning to run some fuel through it as it just sits most of the time due to Covid restrictions, and, it felt like an old Buick, all floaty and loose, and quite a contrast to the KTM on the same stretch yesterday. And, my Mustang has the GT Performance Package, with supposed handling ups. Riding a proper motorcycle can really point out how lacking in performance most cages are. There also were tons of motorcycles out and about today.

I knew my U.S. bound BMW's had that option. I will have to see if my KTM 1290 Super Duke R will do the same. At least that particular bike (after much fiddling, including new tone-rings) has a spot-on Speedo. Even the Asian bikes typically read insanely high false numbers as delivered. Does the 690 have any form of T/C as well as ABS? Seems all of those systems sharpened up considerably once the new data collecting rings were installed.
@Brakelateatmsn4 жыл бұрын
Ooo, may have to give you a thumbs down for totally neglecting to acknowledge the other KTM rider heading S/B at 8:09. Almost looks like Tim with the black textile and white helmet (though an MX model, not an OG Open Face unit). Best of all, speaking of OG, is the full Shot Caller 60's hair down to the middle of your back flying in the wind clearly visible at the 9:53 mark. There , now that my full forensic analysis is complete, I guess it is my turn to get out, ride and load up a new video. Sure miss the Teddy Bear Tree, though by the donut marks all around the four lane, it is still a hot spot to have some fun.
@Brakelateatmsn4 жыл бұрын
And at what speed limit was it you were running at exactly??? Well over 82 passing the White Cooper on 9 Mile (6:34), over 80 uphill on the Forest Hwy (8:14) and well over 90+ for extended periods across Mt. Emma (11:34). Seems after a full service the KTM Duke really is 'Ready to Race'! I guess the world is coming to an end here in just a few more days anyway, so why not go full ape shit. Not like there will be anything left but smoldering ashes and ever-morphing stronger strains of China Virus occupying the court house by the time your appearance date rolled around anyway.
@Tetge4 жыл бұрын
No doubt you are unaware that the KTM's speed is in Km/hr, and thus you thought that it was MPH.....
@Tetge4 жыл бұрын
If you wish the biggest numbers for speed, you push the Mode button repeatedly until the ODO mode is active and keep the Mode button depressed until the display mode changes from km/h to mph, or mph to km/h (page 37 owner's manual).
@Brakelateatmsn4 жыл бұрын
Eight years later, and it all looks identical. Other than the new big gate upgrade at Aliso Cyn. and a few often replaced sections of guard rail in the typical spots. Must have had the threat of ice up there at some point lately, as the Forest Hwy on the always shaded in the Winter time section just below (Palmdale Side) sure had a lot of lava pebbles on the shoulders just off the Racing Line, err White Line. Too bad you were low on fuel and couldn't school those boys on the crotch rockets on how to properly run back across 9 Mile.

All old Triumph triples were 750, I had the 1973 T150V, the fastest, second last model, the T160V was heavier as had electric start, and quieter due to noise regulations, so that cost some horsepower, considering he has about 33% of the brake power and twice the weight of the the Suzuki 400 and is riding a near impossible to replace motorcycle he is doing ok. Personally I used to ride rather hard and mine with standard carbs, cams had the measure of xj900 Yamaha, CB 1100 Boldor Hondas and 1100 Suzuki Katana, 12 to 15 years younger, maybe he was just enjoying the ride and not trying to flee, this model Triumph won the Isle of Man TT from 1968 to 1975 as well as many Daytona events and were capable of over 150 miles per hour in mild tune.

Cruising? Where I am from, I would have considered it Flat Out. I mean, I was hitting all the Apex's, trail braking into the corners, and rolling hard on the throttle as soon as the bike was stood up and would not fishtail under acceleration. This guy just breezes by me, then gives me a funny look and suggests that I follow him down the next section of road. I mean this thing he was on had a lawn mower motor, and a leather dress belt wrapped around a drum on the hub for brakes! I've read all of Keith Code's stuff, taken several MSF courses, and even can make my way through a crowded gas station lot without dabbling my feet any more, and this is all I have to show for it ? Garrrr.
@Tetge4 жыл бұрын
Must have been a bike that did not get on the video, since I found out later that the Velocette rider physically disconnects his rear brake to add to the excitement, so, a leather belt would be a major step up as far as braking goes.

How did u do burnout in auto GT. I have 14 and it resists me I only did it once on asphalt . All nannies off
@Tetge5 жыл бұрын
I just turned off the traction control, kept one foot on the brake and kept the brake pressed hard, and then matted the throttle. I was on MT DR's and they are pretty sticky, but, it is a water box, so, generally, they spin pretty easily. All of us found out years ago that it does no damage to the brakes when you hold them to do a burnout, manual, or auto trans, so, I also used the same technique for a manual, except one has to come off the clutch and onto the brake quickly to do a burnout with a manual. It would be more difficult on the street, as the auto in the 2012, at least, was soft and never did 60' well. In fact, it felt as if Ford took out power in 1st gear at launch. NOTE: It is not as easy with newer cars that have all the nannies, and, I am not sure about the 2014's, atlhough they should be the same as the 2012's.
