I'm still hesitant about using bana grass. Research I've done suggests that it might spread, but it looks like a great privacy screen and wind break.

That was fun to watch. Nice to see so much of the northern parts of Sydney documented. Similar style of vid to Beau Miles, which is high praise. Keep fighting the good fight.

Oh dear, i thouggt i struggled a bit with your accent to begin with ... couldnt work out 'hummus' in your compost, then realised it was 'humus' ... took time for caffeine to kick in 😂 It looks like a steep site, and i'm impressed with how you've managed it. Thanks for sharing

Nice to see, Mike! Great ideas! We have an overproductive avo and underproductive apricots, too. Mildly frustrating to say the least!

@@michaelhughes9593 I know it's a huge amount of time to make and edit a video, but I so much appreciate seeing food forest info from people who are in a similar climate to mine. I haven't found any other permaculture KZbinrs from Sydney, so this is great. I'll be looking out for any further vids. ☺️ Thank you!

I also live in the city on a 80'x150' lot and am gardening in elevated food-grade totes. My soil is composed of organic matter, worm castings and native Florida sand. I have about 20 fruit trees including Moringa, Guava, Key Lime, Orange, Mango, Surinam cherry, Acerola cherry, Soursop, Mulberry, Peach, Raspberry, Loquat, Fig, Strawberry tree, etc. I grow 3 colors of Sweet Potato, Longevity Spinach, Parsnips, Purslane, Sweet Peppers, Cranberry Hibiscus, Onions, Aloe, Turmeric, Ginger, Blueberry, Spanish Oregano, Greek Oregano, Asparagus, and many flowers. Once in place, these gardens require almost no work and pests are few. I just plopped down a patio stone and stacked cement block on them to knee high, then added 2- 4x4's and placed the totes on them, filled them with soil and planted. They take care of themselves, grow well, vigorous and strong. God does much of the watering. I seldom weed. Life is good!

What is measurement of total area? How much space does one need to create a food forest?.
@michaelhughes9593
@michaelhughes9593 2 жыл бұрын
Hello! My food forest is probably about 12m by 12m. There is no limit to how big or small your forest can be. You can start with one tree, which could be a small dwarf variety and build up a guild of plants around that one tree appropriate to its size. Then if you have the space, add another tree nearby and extend the guild plants out so that they are all forming their own little ecosystem.
