I lived on the Isle of Man for 7 years late 90s early 00's. It was a thriving place. I worked in the hospitality industry. Was a fabulous place to live. I have been back a few times. Last time 2016. Its looking tired now. The biggest obstacle is getting on and off the Island. So expensive.

Bobby Boy Quayle should try travelling on his boats anonymously now and again, and experience the louse tannoy systems coupled with the heavy accented announcers that are supposed to keep the passengers informed. When there is background noise such as people talking, or transmission noise from the propshaft whilst manoevering, in or out of loading position, it is impossible to understand what is being said through the lousy speaker system. I might as well be in the Japanese language it is so unintelligable. Furthermore, the mechanical defects and the fragile handling qualities of the fleet is unacceptable in reliability terms, and it has become apparent that the schedules are at best guesswork, the poor staff are hostage to the reliability issues and it is no excuse to blame mechanical defects when there is such a thing as " PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE" which is a well known method of predicting problems BEFORE they occur, by replacing suspect or worn ancilliary parts in order to ensure 24hour reliability. The ships Engineers will know this, but the management will ALWAYS try to cut costs by ignoring this essential reliability matter, and the passengers will always pay the price, and get the brunt of the problems. Profits do not come before Passengers, should be the mantra of the company.

I visited the Island for 30 years with work dealing with shops, builders merchants etc. Recently I retired, and have been back twice for holidays with my partner. The biggest issue, now I am paying for my visits is the ferry cost-if the government could find a way of subsidising or capping the cost of getting to the Island, tourism would soon increase. My local football team Lincoln city signed a player recently from Sweden, people were complaining because it took several days for his work permit to come through.

I remember it being on the main stream News. The fact the man has decided to publish is in my opinion very commendable as yes it needs to be available as a testament to the very seriouse risks of using famable material in a major volimn in the constrution. It also helps to highlight how some desihners did not seem to learn of the inherent (design flaw) dangers when building Grenfell Tower of flats that tragically burnt.

So much good information in a short video. Thanks so much! He was my 10th-great-grandfather. Many of the Christian family fled to Virginia after the execution -- in fear of their lives. President John Tyler married one of those Christian descendants (a cousin of my 3rd-great-grandmother). So glad to have discovered this video in my research.

Massive shame this event is no more! I entered for 2020, which obviously went well, wanted to enter in 2021 and that was it. The island has lost so many of these events, now it’s happening in the UK too…😢

My friend lost his life in that inferno along with 49 others, he continually kept running back into the building dodging the falling roof structures with his hair and clothes smouldering to save children from the cresh, the service personel who he fought off to get back inside said they'd never witnessed such bravery. Rest in peace old friend, the disaster was 41 years ago today.

In 2024 with a new government in office, they could do an awful lot worse that employ this guy in an advisory capacity. Has more life-skills than any cliché-ridden politician! Huge respect for what he achieved in his life, and more importantly, is now giving back to society.

An incredible talent and a genuinely lovely man. He kept the Rank Organisation busy through the 1950s and most of the 1960s with his series of hit comedy films. At one point, he was probably doing as well at the box office as the Bond films were. Next year it'll be 15 years since he passed but his legacy is never forgotten Thanks for the entertainment Sir Norman ❤ 😊
