You still have to park the car in Compatch and then walk for 50 minutes, no matter what’s the time unfortunately. That last piece of road is always closed to public. Having said that, you will often see people (unaware or not) that will keep driving and risk the fine.

Excellent snaps. It looks like some of them was taken using a tripod. I am also planning to visit Venice soon, but I read in many forums that tripods are not allowed on streets of Italy. Did you face any issues using the tripod there?
@leonardopapera3 ай бұрын
Only once, in St. Mark Square. Local police showed up and told me to pack it as I was occupying public soil. It was covid times, I was pretty much alone in St. Mark, probably one of the few times where I wasn't bothering anyone there... I guess they were bored too! Other than that episode - as long as you shoot during the golden hours and night time, I never had any issue of any type. Of course you'll need to be extra aware that there are other people around you and try to take as little space as you possibly can not to block someone, specially on the tiny streets.

It is private land around the viewpoint indeed. As the sun rises in the spring behind the trees from the location shown it’s very difficult to get a morning shot unless it’s very early before full sunrise. I really struggled to get anything when I was there with a group about two hours after sunrise as the sunlight was so strong. I wish we had the opportunity to do the sunset period as shown in the video but unfortunately we didn’t. I hope to go back at some point.

@leonardopapera9 ай бұрын
Thank you! Yes, in order to fly a drone in Italy (above 250 grams) you need a valid EASA flying license, a civil insurance and the QR code on the drone. If the drone is below 250g (like the Mini 3 Pro) - you should be able to fly without all these requirements. At least, that was the rule at the time I shot the videos, not sure if it changed now. Make sure to check all the updated requirements and laws on the ENAC website (the italian fly authority) before flying there!

The road from Compatch to the bottom of the valley (Siusi) is always open; the limitation exists for the people trying to drive up the road from 9AM, but not for those who are already up there and want to drive down. If you parked your car in Compatch before 9AM, you can drive back down at anytime during the day! Hope I explained myself!

These are the coordinates for the point you should reach via the backroads: 43.05828793335397, 11.555275621880229 Once again, it's quite a rough road to drive on if you are not used to unpaved roads, and you end up in a private property if you drive all the way so make sure to stop before and park in a place where there are no "no parking" signs!

Thanks heaps! This summer has been quite rough up there to be fair, a lot of rain and bad weather! I would anticipate your next visit if you aim for the Tre Cime, late October is the very end of the season and if we get some early snow they might even close the road to the Auronzo hut early. I’d recommend mid-October, you would also see the peak of the foliage which is by itself a reason to visit during that time.

Scendere tra gli ulivi è sicuro? O si rischia di imbattersi in contadini armati di forconi, cani da guardia sciolti e mostri vari? :D
@leonardopapera Жыл бұрын
Ahahah bisogna star attenti a dove andare!

Hi Mattia! Ciao! If you check on D-Flight, you will see that there’s an “okay” fly-area in the area above Compatch and it’s surroundings, included the piece of road that goes into the Alpe di Siusi. It’s a small area between all the different No-fly zones, but yes, you can (of course if you have all the necessary requirements like license, insurance, etc). Next to it, there’s another area where flying is permitted only up to 45m - which is still good enough for these kind of shots. I hope this helps! Thank you for your comment, I’m glad you appreciated! ☺️
