You're right. Thankfully, this soap is so easy that exactness isn't required. I usually just pour some soap in and add some water (more water than soap), and it works out fine. :) Still making this every week (just made some today!) after several years, and still love it.

I have been making a version of this but also adding a teaspoon of food grade sodium hydroxide solution which you can buy online. It is alkaline, so will neutralise acid. I keep the resulting mixture in a jar in the fridge. It goes hard, so I use a clean teaspoon to just take a small amount out each time, and when I spit out it goes in a paper tissue in the bin. I heard that you can add calcium powder to home made toothpaste. Perhaps that is similar to the Bentonite Clay that is mentioned.

All of mjne set up with cracks in them Do you know why that would happen?
@ArtfulHomemaking
@ArtfulHomemaking 29 күн бұрын
I'm so sorry to hear that! I haven’t experienced cracks with my candles, but I’ve received a couple of questions about how to avoid this. I’ve read that in order to avoid cracks, try to let the candle cool more slowly in a warm location. Also, you might try pouring the wax at a slightly cooler temperature (155-160 degrees has been the suggestion I’ve seen). You can also try heating the containers before pouring the beeswax into them (heat in a warm oven). If you want to fill in cracks after they occur, you can melt some beeswax and pour it in the cracks to fill them in (I haven’t tried this myself, I just saw the suggestion on a candle website).

Hi! How do I increase to 45 stitches? I'm struggling to know how to add an increase each time!
@ArtfulHomemaking
@ArtfulHomemaking 29 күн бұрын
Hello! To increase to 45 stitches, repeat Row 2 until you have 45 stitches on the needle. Row 2 is: k2, yo, k to end of row If it would be more helpful to see the instructions in writing rather than trying to follow the video, you can find those here: www.artfulhomemaking.com/knitted-dishcloths/

How do you know if it's antibacterial and if it's enough to actually kill the bacteria?
@ArtfulHomemaking
@ArtfulHomemaking 29 күн бұрын
Castile soap isn't technically antibacterial. According to the Dr. Bronner's website: "Castile soap is safe for cleaning both the body and home. The soap molecules have one end that bonds to water and another that repels it. When combined with water, the result is that one end attaches to dirt, grime, and grease, effectively removing it from the applied surface. On top of this, soap molecules rupture the membranes of bacteria and viruses, rendering them useless."

Now you can achieve foaming in a more advanced way with an automatic foam soap dispenser. Just mix soap and water, and you’ll get high-quality foam with a wave of your hand. No pressing needed, reducing cross-contamination for a more hygienic experience. I hope the blogger will give it a try!

I love knitting on just about everything. I love knitting washcloths and giving 3 or 4 wrapped up with a very nice bar of soap. Every person I’ve given them to loves them and mention that they would love more. I was in my Drs office last week and she asked me what I was knitting. I told her and she had to feel it. I go back in August so I’m trying to get some worked up for her. 💜 Thank you so much for your great video.

Hi! I just came across your channel today (and subscribed), when I did some research on cleaning motivation when you're in pain. I've had CRPS (Chronic Regional Pain Syndrome) since having a nerve block before rotator cuff repair surgery, in 2020. There are days I cannot function. When I have a good day I try and do as much as I can to catch up on my To Do list. Thankfully my hubby helps me a lot. So blessed to have found your channel.

You don't use a thermometer? I thought you had to wait till the wax cool to a certain temperature to add the oil
@ArtfulHomemaking
@ArtfulHomemaking 2 ай бұрын
According to Brambleberry, "the best temperature to pour is 155-160° F. A rule of thumb is to allow the wax to cool enough to coat the sides of your pouring vessel." I usually don't take the temperature of my beeswax, but I always do when making soy candles.

How do you get it to NOT tunnel ??
@ArtfulHomemaking
@ArtfulHomemaking 4 ай бұрын
Sometimes tunneling occurs because the wrong wick (for the size of the jar) was used. And it can take a bit of trial and error to find the best wick for the container used. My beeswax candles made in jelly jars have a nice burn pool, spreading all the way to the edges. But the ones made in the wide mouth jars don’t burn as fully to the edges because I think they could really use a different/bigger wick. The other (very common) reason for tunneling is that the candle wasn’t allowed to burn long enough. I usually plan to burn my candles for about 3 hours each time they are lit. This is especially important for the first time the candle is lit, as it helps it to burn more successfully after that. Beeswax candles can take a bit of experimentation to get them right!

I just started. My dishcloth ended up a wonky shape but I figured it’s good practice. Video is good but I have the last stitch on my needle still because your video cut what you did with the very last stitch. It jumps from the last stitch to the loop. How did you get it off the needle? I tried taking it off and it wasn’t finished so I had to put back on needle and restitch to make last stitch again and afraid to take it off. What am I missing? Thanks
@ArtfulHomemaking
@ArtfulHomemaking 5 ай бұрын
Hi Cheryl! If you watch starting at 10:23 , it shows that last stitch on the needle, and you simply pull your needle out of that stitch (keeping the loop that was left), and then follow the instructions for cutting the thread and pulling it through that loop (that last stitch) that was left. This binds off the stitches. Hope that helps!

Hello, thank you for sharing this pattern. I've knitted this in the past without issue, however this time the lace pattern, or specifically the holes it creates are larger on the decrease than on the increase. My yarn is 100% cotton, size 4 australian needles. Its happened twice now. I'm very careful making sure I've followed the instruction properly as i have knitted it many times before. I'm frustrated, any suggestion as to what might be happening?
