It is very easy to measure before and after tax (and both are interesting). I was amazed to hear many transfers payments are not part off offical measuerd income though. I understand why untaxed income is not well known to the authrorities but the money they transfer themselves should be known in detail. If you excluding a lot of capital income too what are you measuting??? For the very poor transfer paymenst are a big part of income and unless you can work 500h/day each part capital income is obvioulst the main one for the people earning the most. Missing out on both ends and then comparing their ratio sounds ... :)

This guy is a "for hire" psudo economist who is paid to deny truth so the rich can keep stealing money from the rest of us. Piketty is right, this guy is a clown. This guy haas also used hsi sketchy math to claim there is no gender pay inequality or racial pay inequality... Thomas Piketty refutes this guy and Piketty's work has been sited 10's of thousands of times in academic work and NONE of this guys claims on income inequality have ever been sited. Can you say GRIFTER

When I was a child, the earth population was 3.4 billion. In college biology we learned that a sustainable earth population is 1.5-2 billion. Today, we’re pretty close to 8 billion. Even though the population may be decreasing, if it continues the downward trend, it’s not going back to 2 billion, at least for several decades, long after Musk is long gone…heh, heh…from a simple, old war vet, retired in east Tennessee, in the foothills of the Smokies.

Just an hour ago my aunt's husband was telling me they had a population of wild pigs and deer near the house when he grew up. My cousins grew up in that house too - when they were small there were a lot of foxes and hares. Now that all disappeared. The earth is overpopulated with people and underpopulated with other species

The comments don’t seem to understand how unsustainable society will be when there are many more old people than young people. Having millions of frustrated, lonely, overworked men is dangerous. The next generations will have a lower quality of life, and lack the fulfillment of having their own family and property.

So funny to see everyone's looking just at the current moment and stating "Overpopulated", without analyzing the trends. By the end of this century population is going to decline. Mark my word. Regarding climate change and overpopulation - huge corporations are hugely responsible for pollution. And owners of those corporations will have as many kids as they want. They can afford it, and they dont care about climate change. But, yes, we lay people cannot afford many children, and we soothe ourselves by saying - "We're protecting the Earth by not having children." Rather study what's been happening to economies when labor force declines - study Japan, Europe after the Black Death. That's going to be the reality for your kids and grandkids. Help them prepare for that.

I remember when I was a kid in the early 2000s, there were fewer cars on tjmhe streets and much less people in the buses, the air was cleaner. But not just that, kids were more respectful, we learned a lot, everyone seemed to have a place in the world, less beggars. Today, at least in my town, cars are parked all over the streets, you can barely turn around and there are tens of cars everywhere. Buses always crowded, kids screaming, doing tiktoks everywhere, food is SO, SO expensive... And I honestly don't remember summers to be so hot back in the day. Here in eastern europe, we had winters of -20 C constantly. Now it barely goes below 0 in January... The world has changed so much...

China been did this with nearly twice the number, half the time and over 20 years ago. Soviet Union arguably did this as well with fewer number. And before you comment how india is a “democracy”, western methods should begets western results, since that’s the whole pragmatic point of implementing it, and india isn’t even comparable to many African countries. Oh and greetings from Singapore btw.
