Well done, as always! Q? what happened the to the magnet on your vice?
@lifliesmike2 ай бұрын
The magnet has a chip in it from dropping the head back in the day, this vice head has seen better days. You can see the wear from my hand on the top, wore threw the power coat on top haha

Looks like it would work on a fluke rig has a teaser
@lifliesmike3 ай бұрын
It definitely would, I've used surf candies for years as fluke teasers so no reason these wouldn't work.

How do i determine the size of leader and tippet when setting up my Fly reel for large flies.
@lifliesmike6 ай бұрын
What weight rod are you using. For larger flies on my 9 or 10 wt rod and intermediate or sinking line I make a simple leader. 30,40 or 50 lb section about 4-5' long with a double surgeons loop to the fly line, then blood knot to blood knot to 20 lb fluro about 3-4' long If you fishing big flies like beasts and slammers, you can just use a straight piece of 40 or 50 about 5-6 long

why you waste so mutch stuff? safe this and take for ohters fly. loke more for your enviroment and natur.
@lifliesmike6 ай бұрын
I do save what's not used, I take the usable materials from my little fly tying waste basket attached to the vice and use it for what we call garbage flies. Where i take the scraps and tie something with it as to not waste anything. Obviously not everything can be use, like off cuts of bucktail etc, but the synthetic material you can use.

What is the name of the material you are using?
@lifliesmike6 ай бұрын
The name of the material is Sf blend or Steve Farrar blend, essentially slinky fiber blended with angel hair. And no well by tying more of these soon on stream.
