Hey brother, im also located in mid Ohio. Jus got a kayak and have been looking for some good places like this. Can I get the location?
@JayGoesOutside4 күн бұрын
Hey, thanks for watching! Yes -- this is Alum Creek. I started at Shrock Rd. and waded north to around the Whipple Truss bridge. Good luck!

Why are u batoning wood with a knife your car is only 10 feet away u should have an axe or hatchet your not backpacking so weights not an issue
@JayGoesOutsideАй бұрын
Hey, thanks for commenting. I tend to split kindling with a knife just out of habit since it’s the way I learned to do it. But you’re right. An ax or hatchet is a better tool for the job. 👍

What rod are you using? I recently got into ultra light fishing
@JayGoesOutsideАй бұрын
It’s a Bass Pro Shops Micro Lite graphite rod, 6 foot, ultralight, fast action. 2-piece. Runs $60. Ultralight is the best! Thanks for watching!

How do you like these rods, I find em pretty good I’ve broken several in several different lengths on hybrid strippers
@JayGoesOutside2 ай бұрын
I love them for what I do, which is mainly multi-species fishing with very small lures and light line. I would not use the ultralight if I was specifically targeting large fish, but I’ve landed some big ones on them as bycatch, including a grass carp that was probably 7 or 8 pounds, some nice channel cats, and some decent size bass as well (16+ inches). Thanks for watching and commenting!

How come these tents don’t come with a floor? Strange!
@JayGoesOutside4 ай бұрын
It's mostly to avoid the floor being burned by embers from the stove. It also allows for better airflow to prevent condensation buildup in the tent, and to allow sufficient airflow into the stove. The big thing for me though is that I tend to track a lot of snow into the tent. With a floor that'd all melt and sit as water on the floor. Without the floor it just seeps into the ground. Thanks for the comment!

Really great video! Love camping myself. Cheers from Denmark😊
I like the idea of getting away during the week and don't usually consider camping on a weekday. It's so easy to get stuck in a normal pattern of doing things and following rules that I've set for myself. It's good to change it up a bit.
