At the time I made this video, the western ridge of Cahuenga Peak was still private land and relatively little used by hikers. Since then, it's been incorporated into Griffith Park and become very popular - including groups of tourist-hikers being led up there. The stones supporting the dirt around the so-called Wisdom Tree have been removed to create "arty" piled-rock sculptures, probably endangering the tree itself due to the risk of erosion around its roots. Just another case of people loving nature to death, I suppose.

I have never made maqluba before, but my professional chefs advice, smaller pot, filled only halfway or so, allow the maqluba to set for a while before inverting and unmolding. Main advice don't feel bad about your attempt to make something, plus you learn from your mistakes. It looks delicious! Enjoy
