If using blender 4.2 all these features have been removed from Eevee, you will have alpha by default.

Also how do you make it so a rigged character can interact with the grass? Cuz when I change the object from the sphere to the mesh of the character I'm using the grass disappears for some reason?

First of all add all the object you want it to interact with, then use a collection info node and select that collection.
