You know something I’ve always thought about Grievous is you can really tell he fights in a way meant to disarm and break down Jedi while still not being on truly equal footing with them. Most Jedi training is geared towards dispatching opponents of vastly inferior skill and armament, they haven’t fought other force users regularly in many many years and their role in Republic bureaucracy means they care more about maintaining order and neutralizing threats than they do about killing a target decisively. Grievous deliberately breaks this training by frequently massively overpowering Jedi in brute strength and agility, getting simply beaten senseless is something they don’t have a lot of experience with in an actual fight and not being at an inherent advantage simply by having a lightsaber renders them pretty vulnerable. He’s also very pragmatic about how he chooses his fights, he’s not really the more dangerous combatant most of the time so he doesn’t try to fight fair at all and he simply leaves when it’s too close to be worth it and he’s got no more cards up his sleeve. As far as Jedi hunters go he’s still one of the best even in his much more restrained appearances in The Clone Wars.
