Well done. I worked for Otari for many years in several capacities so I am well familiar with their equipment. I was just cruising around YT and stumbled on your video. Your video will not be of interest to most folks, but for me it was very enjoyable as a trip down memory lane. It triggered thoughts of the people and events that were behind what you see in the studio, I enjoyed my time with Otari and the team that worked there so belated thanks for posting!

Cool reel to reel, but it only has a top of 3K freq. Uses FM for recorder on 3 tracks. One track for mono voice, etc. Pretty cool though.

Every single interview Rupert did, he made sure to credit his staff whenever he got the chance. That’s proof of an amazing company. Super proud to own a 5088.

Would really like some more info on the Roberts 333X if possible. I'm looking at a nice unit to purchase. I can't find any information on the internals or motor type and specs. Thank you in advance. I liked and subscribed. Keep up the great work.

Wait... so this thing basically has a builtin mini-oscilloscope for a VU meter? I'm looking at one right now, a bit expensive just to tinker on but that feature would make it almost worth it..!

Martin, I am very thankful for everything you've done to preserve what's left of history. You really deserve more views. I have had a pleasure of owning a few TEAC/TASCAM decks over the years, and your channel and your videos really helped me understand them more. Thank you again!

I also have a 700, but when on fast rewind and then pressed stop, tape goes all over the place.

There are 2 bulbs in the back. One may have been burned out. You can tell if both light up. I just repaired this problem for a friend. Also, resistor 2 might have a crack which is part of supplying DC voltage to the reel motors. Next time when pressing stop, keep your finger pressed in. This will allow more DC voltage to the reel motors.

Hi Martin, I just bought a Tascam 80-8 and am picking it up tomorrow! I am excited about that. I have two other TEAC decks. a 6010 and a 3300. Not enough for what I like to do. Never thought I could find a deal like I did. $500 for a barely used 80-8! I have to drive down an hour and a half tomorrow.... Let's see how it flies when I get there. You put on a nice video here. I am up in The Poconos of PA. My home studio is 16 Track and I have bands come in to rehearse and record. Should be interesting when these guys see the new equipment. Jan 2024

Yes TEAC is a serious company and you should pay a little more respect then to jack up your video with cheesy page turns and constant flipping. Did you just get baby's first video editing software? I'm sorry but you have ruined all the great information you were trying to impart with ridiculous transitions that make no sense whatsoever. Idiotic audio fades that cut off every last word and phrase just to make sure you have ball-preened the information. Please unplug your computer until you have come to your senses and can actually show us the incredible history of TEAC. Thanks and have a nice day.

I noticed that you have a Technics RS 1500 US. I was so impressed by this machine (1/2trk) so I bought another one. Used onw as the principle recorder in the field and the second for editing. Somethimes, I had to use both machines on a job that required more time than one unit could handle. Best recorders I ever had. The top end was amazing. I wanted a Crown but couldn't afford it.

Im a newbie to R2R, but i decided to pick up a used one and i got a working Roberts (Rheem) 1725-8L (3) . Worked for a short time until the cams for the play/record broke into pieces. So i have a good used set of cams on order. I have no idea what year this model came out but it seems to be visually the same as a Akai 1800L going by pictures ive seen online. The one problem i see now is getting the belts for it as two sights i use for belts seem to list wrong belts., so i guess alot of wrong info out there on these units by now. For example, my Roberts unit seems to look identical to a Akai 1800L , but when i look up capstan belts online i get 2 different lengths?... So any info that anyone can give me on mine would be helpful
