Wow i like your penmanship so neat and clean. I just started learning Thai a week ago. Started with writing and reading. Right now I'm into reading primary books online. I can read 3-4 letters easily and the rest make me dizzy. I also watch comprehensive input in youtube and during free time i watch Thai movie with out a sub. I haven't tried speaking yet. Cause still struggling with vowels. I agree with you not to rush in Learning Thai cause i myself don't want to rush things in learning the language. I am so happy in a small progress I'm doing and that keeps me going. Hope we can be friends in social so that we can have a little chat in Thai❤ Thanks for all your video Take care

Anyways, wishing you all the very best on your journey. สู้ๆนะค่ะ 💪💝

Hello! May I ask how long have you been learning and how is your progress already? Can you like handle conversations now?
@anaellekylyn4 ай бұрын
Hello 😊. I've been learning Thai for about 15 months now. I only engage in conversations with my Thai tutor since I don't really have Thai friends now. I can handle general conversations pretty well, but when it comes to very deep ones, I only do well with anything related to psychology and a little bit of lifestyle. My goal with Thai is to be able to read books without the help of a dictionary or watch Thai movies without subs. With that, I'll say I'm at 55%; if that's anything to measure by. Are you also learning Thai or any other language(s)?

Excellent video as usual. I've had similar feelings about learning several languages at the same time. I hesitated a lot between Korean and Japanese, which are two languages I really enjoy. But the more I think about it, the more I realise that it takes too much effort and energy to learn two languages at the same time, especially at a beginner's level. I now think it's better to focus on one language until you reach an intermediate level (at least) and then why not start a second language (even if it's very frustrating not to be able to do everything...) Learning a language is something really extremely difficult... In any case, your videos motivate me enormously, even if I'm not learning Thai at the moment (maybe one day?). I've got a question, maybe you've already answered it in another video if that's the case, sorry! But what is your motivation for learning Thai? Why this language specifically? Do you want to use it in the future (living in Thailand?) Thanks a lot!
@anaellekylyn5 ай бұрын
I agree with everything you said, and your words provide such comfort and support; thanks for sharing. Regarding my motivation for learning Thai, it was the beauty of the language that drew me to it, and honestly, that was why I wanted to learn it. I'd also been such a BL fan at the time, and so I'd thought how cool it'd be if I could one day watch a series without subtitles 😅. Lately, as I've reached a point where I can understand a lot of spoken Thai, I come across a ton of Thai content that truly inspires and motivates me. To put it simply, the language has this odd way of giving me comfort whenever I need it. As for living in Thai or anything like that, I've never thought of that tbh.

Can you make a video on how to learn Thai as a beginner after knowing alphabets how can I start with grammar, writting & speaking?
@anaellekylyn5 ай бұрын
Hi, thanks for the request, but I have made a few videos on these topics. My beginner guide video shares a lot of beginner tips to get started. Here's the link to it: kzbin.info/www/bejne/d5a4p6iJh9Ngo7ssi=6GWdq_BV9xaLHb67 Also, in the video description, I have a couple of links to some resources I think you might find helpful.
Hey can you share your handwriting notes of this video? I tried to watch it but it is really fast and little bit blurry.
@anaellekylyn5 ай бұрын
No problem. 1. Learn the Thai alphabet 2. Learn to read/sound the Thai tones 3. Learn basic Thai phrases 4. Learn basic Thai grammar 5. Get a tutor I'm not quite sure if this is the answer to your request. Also, you can try increasing the resolution in your settings if the video is blurry, and you can also slow the video down, too, and that should help. Thanks for watching, and I'm wishing you all the best! สู้ๆนะค่ะ 💪

Can't wait to reach intermediate level 😁 i now learned 1000 words so i think I'm in the lower intermediate level maybe , i too find the beginner level apps too basic , i love Jeff Satur 😭 I've been following him since before KinnPorshe I want to ask you about how much in percentage do you understand the thai spoken by Cullen Hateberry since he's also intermediate i think ? 🤔 I'm understanding maybe 20% of the video
@anaellekylyn5 ай бұрын
For me, I really enjoy his vlogs, but I had to stop watching him consistently because he speaks Thai with his Korean accent, and that affects his pronunciation a lot and in turn I started to pick up on that too since I'm also learning. Since he puts Thai subtitles on the videos, I can comprehend about 75%. Without the subs, I would really struggle. I can barely understand when I'm not looking at the subs 😅
@Denji.995 ай бұрын
@@anaellekylyn oh i see , i also recognize some words by the subs and not them talking but i thought that was a problem with my listening , i have been watching thai series since 2016 Sotus almost everyday until now , I'm looking to expand my vocabulary as much as possible now because i heard to understand most of the casual talk you'll need around 5000 words
@anaellekylyn5 ай бұрын
@Denji.99 The Sotus series is one of the best series for immersion. I rewatched both seasons a few months ago over a weekend, and that was when my progress skyrocketed. I started having conversations with my friend more easily, and the whole thing really surprised me, but I haven't been able to repeat it. I also don't have a way of tracking how many words I know. I track my progress by communicating with my tutor. I'm able to fill in gaps that way.

I met up with my tutor last night and then read my diary entry to her, and she helped correct a couple of things I couldn't add to the video and so I thought I will put them here instead. 3:56 she suggested that "ถ่ายวีดีโอ" made more sense than just saying "ถ่าย," because at first, she'd thought I'd meant I was "taking a poop" 😅 which was a little embarrassing. 4:23 I had omitted the "ความ" when I wrote and said "มั่นใจ." Should be ความมั่นใจ in that sentence: เรามีความมั่นใจที่มั่นคงจริงๆในความสามารถของเรา ~ I have a stable confidence in my abilities I also showed the part with Jeff Satur that I'd been struggling with. I had eventually gotten it but had totally missed a word which is เหมือน 8:30 "มันเป็นเหมือนแบบที่ระบาย" and I hear it now 😄 Thanks again with so much love, for watching. I wish you all have a wonderful and happy week 💝

Quick question. Do you think rolling your r's is a major thing in Thai? I'm currently learning and want to do it properly, but I literally cannot roll r's no matter what I do. I don't hear rolling r's a lot in Thai (compared to other words or phrases), but I hear it enough that it makes me nervous that I won't be able to learn. I also sometimes have difficulty distinguishing tones since my native language is very monotone. Have any tips? TYSM for the video 😊
@anaellekylyn6 ай бұрын
No, it's not, at least according to what I've heard. In one video by kru Smuk of BananaThai, she mentioned that her dad has never been able to roll his r's, and he's Thai. Also, most often, Thai people make the L sound when pronouncing the R sounds, and that's also what made me believe it's not a big deal. In a Thai book I have, the author who is a Farang mentioned that foreigners or learners of Thai should not sound L in place of R so I guess rolling it isn't that much of a big deal as long as you get the pronunciation and tone right. Hope that offers some insight. Wishing you all the best in your journey สู้ๆนะค่ะ 💪💝
@anaellekylyn6 ай бұрын
For tones, shadow as much as you can. When I started, there were certain words I could pronounce perfectly, and so I used that as a guide or base. Before I pronounced a new word I struggled with, I would sound the word I knew and then the new word, mimicking the tone of the base. For instance, the falling tone word พ่อ (father) was quite easy, and so for a word like นี่(this, as a noun) which I struggled to pronounce for the longest time bc of นี้, I would first say พ่อ several times and then นี่. This technique helped me a lot, and I still use it for even bigger words. Hope that helps.
