Thank you so much for this video!! I'm considering buying the Easy Thai textbook and the Thai Stories book by the same author. Would you recommend them for a beginner? I know the alphabet and some basic vocabulary, but that's it
@anaellekylyn8 күн бұрын
Hey there 👋 & thank youuu 💝. I will definitely recommend the Easy Thai textbook; it is great to start with. I won't recommend the Thai Stories book for a beginner, though. The stories are rather complex, and it's folklore, so it's not something that's gonna be easy to navigate, especially for a beginner. If you want to practice reading, I will recommend you look up Thai graded readers online. Check out my video where I share online reading materials; I think you'll find the information and recommendations valuable: kzbin.info/www/bejne/h3jTpauhZ5xghbcsi=tl2LmAqV20dghO0b All the best นะค่ะ สู้ๆนะ

@anaellekylyn8 күн бұрын
So ต (ต่อ เต่า - middle class consonant) is not obsolete. In that part, I wrote ตลอด (always). I think you are confusing ต่อ เต่า with ฅ (ฅอ คน - low class consonant). They look similar, but they're different นะเพื่อนจ๋า. I hope that clarified things for you. Also, ขอบคุณมากค่ะ 💝

The forgetting process is a part of language learning just look them up and eventually you will memorize them
@anaellekylyn8 күн бұрын
I can agree to that. This video is incomplete, and I do talk about this in more depth in the second part. Yet, looking up words you've learned again and again as you encounter them hinders your ability to recall them when needed. The goal is to not be reliant on the dictionary too much but learn effectively enough to be able to recall the stuff you need when the opportunity to use them arises.
@anaellekylyn8 күн бұрын
Of course, if you have totally forgotten, then a recap or review is an absolute must 👌

Hey! Love your videos! Thought I would come to the oldest vid to see how you started off but you seem to be at a really good level at this video. Out of curiosity, when did you first pick up learning thai? Assuming you started with the basics like learning common verbs/phrases in english then eventually transitioned into writing and knowing all the letters/symbols? I'm currently at the early phase of simply knowing the thai to english translations 😂
@anaellekylynАй бұрын
I think it was somewhere 2020. I learned the alphabet and some basic Thai using the drops app. I dropped it after a couple of months and then picked it up again in 2023. Then, I used the materials in this video, and once I finished with the textbook and app Ling, I moved on to listening and speaking.

Hello to you too. When I first started, I watched the channel MKMabi. She speaks slower than normal and puts both English and Thai subtitles. It's advanced stuff since it's her KZbin channel, but it really helped me get started and improve fast. I will advise the Easy Spanish channel for beginning, and Woody's channel. Woody mainly does interviews, which is also advanced stuff but super helpful to learn useful phrases you can easily integrate into your speech.
