Awesome Myra! This is where the combination of In5 and InDesign is unique. There is *no other tool* that would let you do something like this with such ease. If the banner at the end came in with an animation and fade in, that would blend in with the video perfectly, right?

I'm so glad you liked this technique! :) If you were to add a Fade In animation preset to the Grand Opening banner group that is on the layer above the images and video, then it would fade in as it would over any other image or video. ^MF

Great video Myra! I like the antialiasing metaphor. I wonder if this might become an In5 widget that creates buttons like this to conform to an irregular shape. There could be a fidelity setting to limit the number of buttons created. Just a thought 🤔

If you're exporting HTML5 content from in5 (as opposed to creating a PDF), then you can use the in5 Hyperlink widget (in5 > Interactive Widgets > Hyperlinks) to set the link to open in a variety of ways including in a new window. Here's more information: ajarproductions.com/blog/2015/09/21/how-to-add-advanced-html-hyperlinking-with-in5/ How PDF links open is much less reliable. Although you can try to customize how a PDF link will open, whether it will or not may depend on the PDF viewer that your reader is using. Thanks Myra, great video. I have used the end action to set up a countdown timer for a quiz question--I use a video of a clock counting down then set up the end action to go from a state showing the question to a state showing the answer.

You can add a background image when you export with in5 (in5 > Export HTML5 with in5...) by going to the Backgrounds section. The output contains watermarks and has other feature limitations when in5 is running in demo mode (ajar.freshdesk.com/support/solutions/articles/26000031186-what-are-the-limitations-of-in5-in-demo-mode-). The watermarks are removed after you activate in5 with an active subscription. Activation also grants you access to the features available at your plan level. Scrolling frames are not deemed accessible in terms of a screen reader not being able to read out all the text. How would I create an alternate layout for mobile while keeping the page amounts the same on both in order to create a responsive layout?

When you embed the crossword puzzle from Crossword Labs, there's a hamburger menu in the lower right of the embedded content. Click on it to access a Clear Puzzle option. When you click on Clear Puzzle, an alert appears to ask if you really want to clear the puzzle. When you click OK from the alert, it removes all the entered answers. ^MF

Great video. It is kind of a hassle to redo the lost interactivity, but I didn't know that you could control an MSO from scrolling frame content! I think this would be a great technique to use for mobile screens where you don't have room to show all the buttons that control an MSO. Thanks Myra 😀

Thanks Myra, another great video! I'm interested in using image sequences instead of animated GIFs for short frame-based animations. I was thinking about more ways trigger them and this method sounds great for getting more control over when they play.

Thanks, Maurice! With the Image Sequence interactive widget, you can select Tap to Play/Pause if you'd like the user to be able to pause the animation whenever they like or add other options for how the Image Sequence plays. :) ^MF

Missed this video somehow. It's excellent! It shows how easy it is to create something that's truly interactive and looks great, in just 3 minutes :) I think this is the kind of thing that will help people I work with see the value of using InDesign for landing pages and microsites. For us, the real roadblock to creating this kind of content is helping our clients to use their imagination and think of what's going to work for their audience 😀

Very cool! I love the flip to reveal previous content. A big flip card is something different, a different take on the "mega menu" idea. This feels more like a look under the hood, especially with the dark background. It's so clever I would probably make a little more out of it, make a more obvious big button. These customer showcase videos are so important, this is another that's blocked by my company firewall unfortunately. Thanks :)

Flash was an amazing tool. Adobe turned it into Adobe Animate from which you can still create sophisticated interactivity for the web--just without the Flash Player. I was just trying out this method. When the carousel reaches the last page, the loop causes a scroll through all the pages to the beginning, right? There's no way around this, correct? I tried a few things but wasn't able to make anything else work.
