38:00 - Pacific Data Images was DreamWorks Animation’s NorthCal satellite studio who created two of DWA’s blockbuster franchises Shrek and Madagascar. They also made Mr. Peabody & Sherman, Antz and Megamind. It makes me ask what if the Henson Company collaborated with DreamWorks Animation and DreamWorks Pictures?????

Makes me wonder how far jim would have taken puppets if companies had given him more chances to make bigger movies. What kind of worlds jim would of created to keep pushing the envelope of the jim henson creature works 😊

My father took me to see Grand Prix when I was 6 years old and I have been an F1 fan ever since. What an amazing movie. After seeing this documentary I watched the movie again and enjoyed it even more. Almost 60 years later and the film is still better than 99% of the CGI movies that are coming out today. As a side note, coming home from the movie my father got pulled over for speeding. He explained to the officer that we were coming home form seeing Grand Prix and he might have been inspired to drive a bit to fast do to just seeing the movie. He was able to talk his way out of getting a ticket. Thank you to all involved in making this movie. Without really noticing before, this film changed the direction of my life.

This was my favorite show as a child in the 70’s. I remember it came on at 7pm and we had to go to bed right after. I will always love the magic that Jim Henson created. 💕

This is an amazing movie that continues to show well and for its time, was beyond anything attempted to use racing as a story. Even Rush doesn’t come up to its standards and the Netflix series on F1 racing is very good and at least an equal to Grand Prix. I am going to my first F1 race this year at Monza (now 82).

I wonder, if there ever been an occurance when Jim Henson, Bob Ross and Fred Rogers found themselves together in one room - at some perty, perhaps, or during a TV interview or whatever? I think the universe would collapse from the wholesomeness of that, so I guess that means that never happened.

Well first of all I have to say well done on this documentary. My observation is Grand Prix is one of the greatest racing movies ever made and is the gold standard by which everything else is measured!

Very disappointed Toshiro Mifune was not interviewed for this documentary before he died in 1997. I liked how he brought an element of class and refinement to the story. His role also raised the specter of Asian motorcars gradually taking over the global auto industry then. As for James Gardner, I just don't see him fitting into his role though it was well played. Not that he's not a good actor but he was never part of the big Hollywood names, and his personal style didn't seem in this largely European-dominated market in motorsports mostly owned by French, Italians, Brits, Germans, etc. Nevertheless, the movie is the best in its class of Formula 1 races.

This episode featured clips from various Henson-retained productions, like Fraggle Rock, The Dark Crystal, Labyrinth(both Sony and Henson retained the rights to the film), and The Storyteller. A couple of clips from this episode were uploaded by the official Jim Henson Company KZbin channel.

I think to this very day, ‘Grand Prix’ is the best film centered on motorsport ever to be made. It’s a very small group that is even ‘good’. And fewer still that make such an effort to provide an honest look at the sport. It holds up incredibly well, even after all these decades. That was a magical time… and I’m really grateful to have a film that can transport me there.

My Aunt took me to see it when it came out. I was 11 years old in 1966. I was already hooked on racing. Lived in Indianapolis. My Aunt used to take me to the track during the month of May. I started racing karts the next year. Been involved in motorsports in one form or another ever since. 68 years old now, and still race karts. Actually won the state championship in my class this year.

I remember this movie with deep feelings. My father took myself and my brothers to see it at the Hipodrome Theater in Cleveland. Back then for a new movie having its premiere they did some cool publicity events. They had a real Formula 1 car in the lobby! I still remember that like it was yesterday. Fast forward some years and I actually met John Frankenheimer. Told him that was my favorite movie he said with a sly smile it was his favorite movie as well.
