When I watch videos like this, I'm confused. Are these people reading cats' body language appropriately, or are they simply projecting human qualities onto their cats? I've recognized certain things universally understood among mammals of different species... but might this be taking it too far?

For the last 14 years I had 6 cats. not every cat wanted to sit on my lap. Yes I know they all loved me by seeking my attention an me giving the ( as most as I could) same attention to every cat as possible. But some of the cats that not were interested in my lap... went the closest to me, when sleeping in my bad. And you should not try to get them on your lap... let go if you're cat does not feel comfortable. Stop keep holding them there after about 10 seconds... if they are still try to get way. And at the time it goes up to half a minute, and your cat still does not have interest in beïng on your lap... Than you must be a moron, nog to let her go. If not, you lap will become a trauma to your cat. And yes a trauma to your cat sometimes never can be fixed. Remember you can think more rationally than cats. So let's keep beïng more rational to our beloved cats. It is worth it!

That's why it's important that you kiss your cat from almost day one -- at least as soon as they are able to understand what it going on. I've always kissed my on the nose, on top of the head, ears, usually while softly petting them.

@@FelineFacts-zg6ly Yep. It's very important that we imprint on our furry friends from day one, whether it's a puppy or a kitten. Almost immediately after they are born, it's very important to socialize them immediately; play with them, etc. All animals have their quirks, as do the rest of us, BUT, they should never be afraid of being around us. Yelling, noise, stress, etc. all leads to stress, and while most of it can be dealt with, it can shorten the lifespan of your animal friend significantly or cause health and comfort issues.

@FelineFacts-zg6ly Yeah, I always wanted to get a tiger or a lynx, bob cat type cat. The city won't allow me to get one. I have to live far out in the rural areas and have tall fences, with access to special vets who specialize in care of big kitties. Right now, I have two indoor kitties and one outdoor feral cat I take care of. When I was about to leave to work today, another very friendly, clean looking cat showed up and started doing meow talk. I rubbed his head and back. I can't believe he was so friendly. I got him a bowl of food and water. When I got home at midnight, he was hanging out on my front lawn. He came up to me again and wanted to climb on me. I had an extra cat house in my garage, so I put that out there. I put in some treats and catnip to make it cozy. He's in there napping now. So I guess now I got 4 cats? Cat distribution at work. It's amazing how this works.

I could never physically hurt my kitty boy or by any other way. His brother passed away and he's been so lonely/; they did everything together. I try and spend lots of time with him and plan to find a kitten to help him.

In nature they also do not have routines, they have little to no influence on their surroundings and they don't have feeding time either and they don't keel over! So yeah, treat your pet well, but don't flip the relationship, into you being the pet!

I have severe fibromyalgia and am in constant pain. But my cats know when I am having a flairup and in more pain than usual. My boy cat walks around my feet until I lay down. Then he lays down right next to my head and purrs in my ear.

Such lovely creatures cats are. I suffer from depression, anxiety, and seasonal affective disorder, and Jack and Delilah, two cats I live with (I don’t own them, they belong to my landlady) do such an amazing job at helping me get out the episodes I end up having just simply by being in the same area as me. It especially helps when they nap with me, knead on me, and rub against me, and of course purring 😩👌
