What makes it so friggin hard to get that huge booster out is the overlength studs on it. I wanted to cut them shorter so bad but the instructions plainly stated you'd forfeit your $29 buck core return if it was damaged. So like you did i fought with it too. I'm med sized so i could flip upside down to do the bolts & pedal connection inside, big dudes will have more room if they remove the drivers seat. Thanks for the video, it really gave me a heads-up on what i had to deal with. 👍😄

How did you get the clip off the master cylinder!! I can’t get the dam thing off

I'm not sure if I'm answering your question correctly, but I simply pushed the brake master cylinder to the side. The flexible braided lines allowed me to just push it over. Does that answer what you were asking, or am I not understanding the question?

What I did that helped a ton was take the 3 bolts off the shifter cable to get that extra wiggle room

I started my wife's 2008 today and got the boostet out and back in along with the master cylinder before the heat got to me. I'd watched another guys video and it went pretty smoothly, considering.

I did this job yesterday. The first thing I did was put a temporary hood support on the passenger side of the hood, so I didn't have the factory installed support rod in my way. Thanks for the video.

Couldn’t get the ratchet in place, but am ready to try again tomorrow. And I’ll use your method to rotate it to remove the belt. Unfortunately, I don’t have a working battery, to do the charging, when finished. Good video. Gave me the confidence to try again.

Use a cheater bar instead of a wrench much easier

Sure, if you have one. But, not everyone has the money to spend on such things.

Ok. The longest bolt was in the rear of the alternator and the short one was in front. I don't know if this makes a difference, but WOW! My alternator was a PAIN to remove. It's 2008 4.0 and I think every thing on here is original. Now it's time for maintenance on every thing. Had to cut the belt & remove alternator to remove the one bolt under it holding Bank 2 intake. I feel like I'm building another van. Thanks so much for this video.❤

So if I’m able to get my hand down to put in the socket wrench for the tensioner, then I don’t have to remove the wheel, correct?
@metalmayhemgarage442

If your aim is good enough, you don't even have to get your hand down in there, but yes, essentially you have it correct.

I appreciate how you showed the part where the bolts didn't come out easily. It is so frustrating when the youtube videos make things look easy and then real life is so much more difficult. Great video - thank you.

Thanks for the video. nicely explained and the first time I tried and was able to change the Alternator of my van. I like the way you explained how to lose the tension of the alternator belt. It was very easy and saved a lot of time.

Nice video: I couldn't do it the tensioner was very close to the body in my caravan. any suggestions?

Thanks for watching! It is a tight fit to get that ratchet down in there but most people should be able to unless you have circumstances that prevent it (like the vehicle having been in an accident at some point.) If you absolutely cant get a ratchet on the tensioner, you may have to do what the guys at 2carpros did in the video linked in the description.

@@metalmayhemgarage442 Eventually I managed to replace the alternator and the car worked battery was completely dead. After jump-starting my van it worked. today morning I tried to turn it on, it did start at all. I am not sure what else could be the problem. The battery was good last time I changed it . Any suggestions?
@metalmayhemgarage442
@metalmayhemgarage442 2 жыл бұрын
Well, as I showed in the end of the video (did you watch to the end?) you need to charge up your battery on a charger and not just with your new alternator. Doing so will most likely solve your issue.
