Hey Huston. I hope all is well. A 7th thought of interest. Jesus presented himself after his resurrection to upwards of 500 people before ascending into heaven, verified by independent writings of that time frame.
@InvestigateJesus2 ай бұрын
Thanks so much for sharing! Yes, the evidence of the resurrection is quite extensive. Over 500 witnesses is quite amazing, especially when most things only need to be established by the testimony of 2-3. Always appreciate your encouragement and support!

We don't really know for sure who the authors of the Gospels were though? It's a deep and complicated subject for sure. So whoever the authors were, they were not committing fraud. They don't claim to be Matthew Mark Luke and John. So no fraud. They simply wrote down what the stories circulating about Jesus were. That's what historical scholarship tells us. And Matthew and Luke copied almost all of what Mark wrote anyway. Adding their own theological bent to it.
@InvestigateJesus5 ай бұрын
Yes, I plan to do future videos on the authors and why tradition holds them as Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John versus alternatives as you suggest. Please share any research you have! I really appreciate it.

@@InvestigateJesus As to authorship? How long do you have? You could spend a year on this. Not something you can come into cold. If you listen to someone like JWW, he'll pick and choose anything, misrepresent sometimes, and not tell you about all the evidence that contradicts all his claims. It's actually sad to listen to if you know the facts of the history. This is by no means a simple subject. Far far from it. Spread your net wide if you're looking for all the information. Very easy to be in a echo chamber for a subject like this. If you want an easy to follow video or to, you might check out Paulogias channel on here. He has two good videos on this subject. A new one on who wrote the Gospels, and another I think titled chain of custody? Something like that. Paul does a good job of providing actual historical facts. Check everything for yourself though, but those are two videos I've found to be very good. But plenty of books too.

You should probably look to actual Biblical scholars rather than J. Warner Wallace for dating of the Gospels. In this instance he is so far removed from what actual scholars know that it's hard to describe. There is WAY more reasons that we date the Gospels later. But you won't likely hear those from Wallace. He should not be your go to person on this. There are very good reasons we date the Gospels to when we do. Mark to 65 to 70, Luke and Matthew around 80 and John around 95. So the telephone game you described isn't relevant to once the Gospels were written. It relates to the 3-4 decades of oral tradition that the Gospels are based on. And there, the telephone game is relevant. It's only relevant if you accept the named authors AND the earlier dating. And to argue both those things is to argue against most Biblical scholars. Even Christian ones.

Hey there! Thanks for watching, and for sharing your thoughts. My hope with the channel is to take in many different perspectives and identify the most reasonable explanations to the questions people have wrestled with about Jesus. I’ve found Wallace’s arguments reasonable, but am also very open to reading others. Do you have any scholar recommendations you’ve found helpful on this topic?
@nickbrasing87865 ай бұрын
@@InvestigateJesus On Biblical textual criticism and history? There are hundreds of scholarly works out there? And for whatever it's worth, JWW is NOT a good source. Try Mike Licona or Bart Ehrman off the top of my head. From both sides of the aisle. But there is plenty out there. More than plenty. Please don't go to JWW or Frank Turek. Both are terrible on this.
Thanks Huston! I kinda enjoy it when you get into the weeds. These podcasts are well worth the listen. ✝
