Those are all 1/2”. However, I later switched to the 3/4” bleeder because the 1/2” one kept clogging up.

Man this brings back memories, especially when it was on my African cichlid tank. Though I found the Aquaclear filters superior to them all, these are amazing work horses that get the job done. I had the old 400 version that was intolerably loud (for me) and finally gave up on it for that reason alone, and is what got me into the aquaclears. Still, I hold these in high regard. From your video it sounds like they may have even addressed the noise issue with the submersed pump.

This seems like this might be helping beginners who sought this out. Though I'm far from a beginner I sought this out as well because I needed to see an unboxing to see how I must have lost the intake strainer. It was right there in the cardboard at the beginning. I overlooked the fact the strainer was in that and threw it away in recycling. I just went out to retrieve it and there it was! Good video too. Thanks!

I’m not a big fan of the Fluval HOBs just because of the way the intake tube sits inside, but they do have some nice features. I haven’t checked the new model yet, though. My favorite HOB right now would have to be the Emperor 450, if you have a larger tank.

I changed the filter on mine for the first time and now the flow rate is incredibly slow. I don't know what to do. Also, the water level in fine. Please help. Thank you
@FishyReview18 күн бұрын
Did you remove the impeller and clean it and the place where it sits? Also the intake tube itself? If the flow rate is slow it’s got to be something with that area. My impellers always get bits of plants or snails and slow down or stop because of that so I clean them any time I change the filter. I’ve also seen long hair get tangled up in them.

@@FishyReview Do they tell you how much GPH is on the pump?

I can't find that info but I can tell you that it's quite low. You want the water to flow rather slowly across the bulb to be sure to kill the organisms. You wouldn't want one of these to be your primary filter for sure.

That sounds like a problem with the cord connecting to the top or just not having power.
@joesthebroyo2415Ай бұрын
I bought this filter and started using it but I am worried about part of the cord being submerged in the water, do you think it’ll be fine as long as the actual connection between the plug and outlet isn’t wet?
@FishyReviewАй бұрын
Your tank heater also has a cord going into the water, right? These devices are made to be this way. Make sure to follow the manufacturer’s instruction to have a drip loop so any water that runs down the cord will drip off of it instead of running into the outlet. Hope that helps ease you mind!

So is it okay that the filter itself doesn't necessarily make bubbles? I've never used this brand before but i just installed mine for a brand new 10 gal tank and was wondering if i should look into a little bubbler or something.
@FishyReviewАй бұрын
If the filter is moving the surface of the water, then oxygen will get in that way plus just from the action in the back of the filter. If you have certain types of fish that are from fast moving water or need a lot of oxygen, then an air stone is a good idea. I’ve run many tanks over the years without bubbles because I don’t like air pumps that start making loud noise. If you get an air pump, I recommend one like the one with a built in battery that I talk about in one of my videos. When the power goes out, it keeps going.

The 70 hours is referring to using it in the pulse on/off every 10 seconds mode. If you need it to run longer then I’d suggest connecting a $20 10,000 mAh battery to the USB port.

Take the OUTput side out of the tank so that it’s above it and out in the open air. Then push the red button quickly a few times. It should prime. Just don’t get excited about it working and forget to put the output back in the tank before you plug it in. 😉

Very good, thorough video. We have this filter for our 20 ga thank. Runs very quiet and smooth and ran at a constant flow for the first three to four weeks then the flow fell off dramatically. I replaced the filter, took a toothbrush to the impeller and flushed out that housing with hot water. Returned filter to tank and it ran like new for three or four days, then the flow reduced dramatically. Did same cleaning session again and it ran like new for about two days then next to no flow again. I see no other comments to this situation. Any advice? Filter cartridges are new and clean. Intake is not near any plants or sand. I don’t want to have to thoroughly clean every few days… Thanks!
@FishyReview2 ай бұрын
Not sure on that, but I would recommend contacting the manufacturer to see if they would send you a replacement or a new impeller. The only other thought I have is if you have a small brush and can brush out the well the impeller goes into instead of just rinsing. But that's a long shot. I've had to clean mine quite a bit but its on a tank that's really overloaded (dozens of breeding super red plecos and dozens of breeding Celestial Pearl Danios in a 20 gallon. Usually when filters clog up fast or slow down easily it's because they're too small for the job at hand. I know because I'm always putting too many fish in my tanks!
@Cuttindux2 ай бұрын
@@FishyReview Thank you for the helpful reply. I can and will write to the manufacturer, good idea. I do have a smaller brush, like an overgrown pipe cleaner, I’ll give that a whirl up in the impeller well. I guess if none of these efforts work, we can try the next size up filter. Thank you again.
