Hello Wolfgang, thank you very much for the good tutorial. Is it possible to evaluate the blocking probability from SimEvents?

Hey Wolfang !! Thanks for such a nice tutorial. I have one question how we can randomise queue capacity. And how we can incorporate arbitrary probability distribution at source and sink. Thanks in advance :)

Hi Wolfgang. Its a helpful tutorial. I will like to simulate an appointment queueing problem with patients' no-show in hospital system. Do you have a helpful link for me?

Hi, how do you simulate M/M/2 queues?
@wgarn8 жыл бұрын
A M/M/2 (or more generally a M/M/c) system can be built similar to the previous tutorial. However, you will have to change the resource's capacity. That means: Basic Process >> Resource >> Capacity >> 2. In this tutorial the resource name is "harbour master" and its capacity needs to be set to 2, which means two harbour masters are available for docking ships.

thanks! Do you happen to know how we can model a bidirectional channel (e.g for calls or packet transmission) in ARENA?
@wgarn8 жыл бұрын
If you want to model computer networks, then I'd suggest to use a different tool: Opnet (commercial, now called riverbed Modeler) or the Network Simulator (free, ns). The following article gives some insights into modelling "channels" with Arena: www.informs-sim.org/wsc11papers/346.pdf

Hi Wolfgang! I have a question, what if the generation of entities is not random but instead I have an array with a fixed number of entities per unit time that arrive to the system. How can I include that in simulink? Thanks

Hi Wolfgang, great tutorial! I would like to simulate the operation of an offshore wind farm within my master thesis. Do you have an advice for me how to get used to simevents since there is only a few literature available. Best
@wgarn8 жыл бұрын
There is an interesting "Matlab/Simulink" video about Offshore Wind Farms: kzbin.info/www/bejne/hZOpg3p4d9FskLc SimEvents is a Discrete Event Simulator (DES) and part of Simulink. DES are well suited to get insights when investigating systems with random variables. How could you get used to SimEvents? There is a nice "Getting Started" document from MathWorks: uk.mathworks.com/help/simevents/getting-started-with-simevents.html I hope this helps.

@@wgarn hallo wolf, great work. your matlab version is different from mine which is R2022b, yours seams to be superior than mine.

Brilliant! Could I suggest that in future videos you try to maximise each screen, ie the simulink and display screens to make it easier for your viewers to see. Thanks!
